It’s finally here! Christmas weekend! I’m heading home to Shreveport, Louisiana later this afternoon and can’t wait to be home for the holidays. Before I share my plans for the holidays, let’s take a look back at this week (Monday seems like it was SO long ago!).
On Monday I shared one last giveaway with you before Christmas. It ends tonight (Friday) at midnight EST so be sure to hop on over to the post to enter to win! The winner will be announced on that blog post and on my Instagram Stories over the weekend!
Monday night Michael and I met up with friends for cocktails and dinner at El Sol – the best hole-in-the-wall (in the best way possible) Mexican restaurant in D.C. It was really great to catch up before the holidays!
Laura Leigh of Louella Reese organized a fun virtual cookie exchange for a few of our blogger friends from across the country. On Tuesday we all shared our favorite Christmas cookie recipes. This year, my cookies were these Red Velvet Butter Cookies. (Here’s last year’s recipe for Peppermint Chocolate Chunk Cookies).
On Wednesday I rounded up the Top 10 Posts of 2017, according to how many times the post was visited this year! It was fun to look back on the blog posts from 2017. I’m so incredibly excited for what’s to come in 2018!
Wednesday night Michael and I headed down to the National Mall to check out this year’s National Christmas Tree. We have a pic in front of the tree from every year that we’ve lived in D.C. – this year made pic number four! It’s nothing like the tree at Rockefeller Center in NYC, but it’s still a cool site with the White House and all of the monuments around.
I spent most of my day on Thursday winding up a few last minute tasks at my 9-5 before heading out for the holidays.
Weekend Plans / Christmas Plans
Like I mentioned above, I’m heading home to Shreveport this afternoon – flying my favorite, Southwest, to Dallas and then driving to Shreveport (it’s a 3ish hour drive, but FAR less expensive than flying into Shreve!). I’ll be in Shreveport for almost a week before heading back to D.C. next Thursday. Michael is spending Christmas with his family in Baton Rouge and then heading North to Shreveport for the rest of the week.
Out of Office
That’s it for me for 2017 here on the blog! I’m taking the week between Christmas and New Years to spend time with family and friends and catch up on life and behind the scenes work to prep for the new year. I hope you have an amazing holiday however you’re celebrating! Even though I won’t be posting here on the blog next week, I’ll be sharing lots over on Instagram and Instagram Stories so be sure to follow along!
