Chocolate Crinkle Cookies + 9 Christmas Cookie Recipes!

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies + 9 Christmas Cookie Recipes | Cobalt Chronicles | Houston Blogger

With Christmas quickly approaching, I teamed up with nine of my favorite bloggers to share our favorite Christmas cookie recipes with each other and all of YOU!

For me, cookie baking is synonymous with the holidays. It’s something I look forward to every year!

This year I decided to try my hand at a new-to-me recipe for Chocolate Crinkle Cookies.  Let’s just say I’ll definitely be making these again next year!  They’re easy and quick to whip up and the snow-like dusting of powdered sugar adds a nice holiday touch!

The recipe is super easy to follow (adapted from this recipe) and one where you likely have all of the ingredients already on hand!

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies Recipe

INGREDIENTS

·         1 cup brown sugar packed

·         1/2 cup unsalted butter softened

·         1 teaspoon vanilla extract

·         1 large egg room temperature

·        1 cup all-purpose flour

·         1/2 cup cocoa powder

·         1/2 teaspoon baking soda

·         1/4 teaspoon salt

·         Powdered sugar placed in a large bowl for rolling & dusting cookies

·         Optional: semi-sweet mini chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, nuts

DIRECTIONS

1.      Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. And use cooking spray or butter to “grease” a cookie sheet (so the cookies don’t stick to the pan).

2.      Using a mixer (I use my KitchenAid), cream together butter and sugar until fluffy, about 1 to 2 minutes.

3.     Add in vanilla and egg. Mix until combined, about 30 seconds.

4.      Carefully add in flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix until combined.

5.      Stir in optional items (chocolate chips/nuts).

6.      Use a spoon to scoop dough and roll into 1/2 inch to 1 inch uniform balls.

7.      Roll each ball in powdered sugar.

TIP: Heavily coat the ball with the powdered sugar.  If you don’t, the powdered sugar will disappear upon baking.

8.      Bake in oven until cookies have spread into round cookie shapes and are puffed and crackly, 9-11 minutes. Do not over bake. The cookies will still look a bit doughy. That’s ok! I promise they will stiffen up when cooling.  If they start to brown around the edges, they have baked too long.

9.      Carefully transfer cookies to a cooling rack or tin foil on countertop and allow cookies to cool for at least 10 minutes.

10.  Repeat with remaining dough.

11. Enjoy!

  4. These are so calling my name. My family doesn’t like chocolate so I know I’d have the whole batch to myself. Calories don’t count at Christmas right?!?!
