Maelove Vitamin C Serum vs. Beautycounter All Bright C Serum

Maelove Vitamin C Serum vs Beautycounter All Bright C Serum

By now, you likely know I’m a huge fan of applying Vitamin C serums to my face to help with evening out my skin tone. I’m excited to compare two of my favorite Vitamin C serums for you today. Both are clean products.

What is Vitamin C Serum?

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that’s a natural component of healthy skin. As we age, our Vitamin C levels in skin decrease. UV damage and pollution can accelerate the decline in Vitamin C levels in our skin, which leads skin to look and feel dull, uneven, and less firm.

Luckily, Vitamin C can be applied topically to help mitigate the damage so that our skin looks and feels healthier and younger! #winwin

Vitamin C helps even out skin tone and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin C is well-known for it’s skin-brightening benefits!

Maelove Vitamin C vs. Beautycounter All Bright Vitamin C

I shared a full review of Maelove’s Vitamin C Glow Serum back in February. It’s been a repeat purchase for me. But when Beautycounter recently launched its own Vitamin C serum in May, I wanted to give it a try. I’ve been using the Beautycounter serum for two months now, so I feel qualified to adequately compare the two!

Before we dive into the actual products, one obvious difference is the price. The Maelove product is $28 while the Beautycounter product is $79. Both products are one ounce. The Beautycounter packaging is much more substantial, is heavy to the touch, and is visually more appealing in my opinion.

Maelove Vitamin C – The Glow Maker

How to Use It

You’ll want to apply this serum as part of your morning routine. After cleansing (I use this cleaner), apply your Vitamin C serum first thing. After allowing to absorb into your skin, you can then apply your daily moisturizer and SPF. (I use this moisturizer and this SPF).

Pros

  • Contains 15% L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C)
  • Contains Hyaluronic Acid for added hydration
  • Price point – super affordable at only $28
  • Great starter Vitamin C serum

Cons

  • Thin consistency, I prefer the Beautycounter product’s thicker consistency
  • L-ascorbic acid is an unstable form of vitamin C – It must be stored in a dark place and can’t be over exposed to air or the product will change colors, and in turn, lose its effectiveness (it’s clear to start, but if you don’t use it quick enough and expose it to light, it turns a dark brown)

How to Use It

Similar to the Maelove product, you’ll want to apply this serum as part of your morning routine. After cleansing (I use this cleaner), apply your Vitamin C serum first thing. After allowing to absorb into your skin, you can then apply your daily moisturizer and SPF. (I use this moisturizer and this SPF).

Pros

  • Contains 10% vitamin C
  • Contains STABLE forms of vitamin C (Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate + Bis-Glyceryl Ascorbate vs. L-ascorbic Acid in Maelove) – This keeps the vitamin C serum from losing its potency and effectiveness
  • Contains Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract – an antioxidant powerhouse that helps even skin tone and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Contains Myrciaria Dubia (Camu Camu) Fruit Extract – a powerful antioxidant that helps reduce the appearance of dark spots while brightening, to visually improve signs of skin fatigue
  • The consistency is thick, but goes on smooth

Cons

  • Higher price point, honestly, the only con IMO

Which is better?

Both are great products. I honestly think this is a case where you get what you pay for. While the Maelove product is a great starter option if you’re looking to add a vitamin c serum to your skincare routine and on more of a budget, in my opinion, the Beautycounter product is more effective and longer lasting (since it’s made of stable vitamin c).
