The Newton mattress is comprised of 3 layers. The first layer is the 100% Breathe-Thru Dual Layer Cover. This layer zips off for easy cleaning. The second layer is made from a natural, chemical free viscose material to prevent flames from penetrating the mattress. No chemical fire retardant is used in the Newton mattress. The third layer is the actual mattress. It’s made of 90% air and 10% food-grade polymer. Unlike foam and latex, it is completely safe, non-toxic, and hypoallergenic. The mattress does not include any springs.
100% washable! Both fabric covers easily zip off and are machine washable. And the kicker … the actual mattress is washable too! To wash the mattress, Newton recommends putting it in the shower (or bathtub) and either spot cleaning or washing the entire mattress with water (avoid hot water) and a mild detergent or vinegar. The mattress takes 2-6 hours to fully dry, so definitely keep that in mind when deciding when to clean it! I LOVE the ease of cleaning the mattress!
The Newton mattress is Greenguard Gold Certified. What exactly does that mean? Greenguard Gold Certification is a voluntary third-party program that tests for over 10,000 chemicals and Volatile Organic Compounds.
