I don’t think it’s too hard to figure out that style wise, I definitely lean towards a more casual style. I much prefer jeans to dresses and flats to heels. While I think my style has always been pretty casual, living in DC has definitely pushed me even farther that way.

In the South (where I’m from) there tends to more of an emphasis on dressing up. In my opinion, I think the difference really has a lot to do with people being able to hop in their cars and go from one place to another in the South. Here, or in any other big city, there’s a lot of walking involved. I never want to be that girl who can’t hang because of her shoes or because she’s cold in a dress, ya know?!

How to Dress Up Casual Style

With that said, there are definitely easy ways to dress up a more casual style. Today’s look embodies just that! I paired a new pair of Madewell black denim (I can’t stop with my Madewell denim obsession lately!) with my favorite Black Friday find – this fuzzy, winter-white, off the shoulder sweater. Lucky for you, it’s 50% off again today (making it under $35!). The off-the-shoulder look immediately dresses up the standard black jeans. Perfect for date night!

Another easy way to dress up a casual look is to add a bit of a heel – I never go too crazy here. I have my go-to pair of Vince Camuto heeled booties that I throw on for weekend nights out. My exact pair is no longer available, but here’s this year’s version, currently on sale!

Last but not least, the easiest way to dress up an otherwise casual look is to add jewelry. I shared this particular pair of earrings in Monday’s post, and I can’t get enough of them!
