Fall is my favorite time of the year for shopping and dressing! Bring on all of the layers and textures. You can check out my early fall purchases here! I also rounded up this year’s fall fashion trends and included my fall fashion mood board in this post.
It’s still pretty warm in New Orleans but I know the cooler weather is coming … eventually. In the meantime, I’m planning to pull out all of my favorite fall fashion finds for an upcoming trip to New York.
I’ve already purchased a few new pairs of shoes for fall as shoes are an easy way to incorporate fall fashion when the weather isn’t quite cooperating just yet. I browsed the internet high and low to give you a big fall shoe roundup! I broke down my picks into four main categories: flats, sneakers, booties, and heels. If you have one of each in your closet, you’ll be set for fall! Let’s jump into my Fall Shoe Roundup.
Fall Shoe Roundup 2024 // Fall Shoes for Women
Flats: Loafers, Ballet Flats, Mary Janes, Birkenstocks
Flats are everywhere again this fall. Loafers, ballet flats, and Mary Janes are having big moments. I love my metallic Mary Janes from last fall (love this similar pair from Dolce Vita‘s recently released fall collection). I added this mesh pair to my closet and absolutely love them. They’re so cute and comfortable too! They fit true to size. For Mary Janes, if you have a narrow foot like I do, definitely go for a pair that has an adjustable strap.
The potato Birkenstocks of our millennial middle school years are back. Think big buckle detailing, embellishments, square toe, and mesh fabrics for fall shoes. For loafers, look for either a lug sole or a unique shaped toe box. I’m eyeing these, and I love this pair by Sezane. For an extra pop of style, pair your loafers with these socks. All of these styles can easily be paired with straight leg, wide leg, and cropped denim.
Sneakers
Sneakers are here to stay this season as well! The great thing about sneakers and how we’re styling them this year is that you can pair them with almost any outfit and look chic. They pair great with jeans, trousers, skirts, and dresses. My favorite sneakers by far are Adidas. I have and love the Samba style and Handball Spezial (my newest addition). In my experience, both the Samba and Handball Spezial styles fit true to size. Another sneaker in my closet from last year that I’ll be repeat wearing is the New Balance 327 – full review and size guide here!
If you really want to step up your style game this fall, pair your sneakers with a fun sock! I’m realllly trying to ditch my no-show socks. I love this pair in the scarlet red, kelly green, and sky blue. A less intimidating option is to go with these quarter length socks (they also come in a few fun colors!).
Booties
Please take a moment to go through your closet and donate all of your super short ankle boots and the ones with cutouts at the ankle, you know the ones I’m talking about, the ones you’ve been wearing for years. We aren’t doing those anymore, ok? The short shaft booties this year are a bit taller and hug closer to your ankle and lower calf. I love a low heel on my short booties as I tend to get much more wear out out of them.
The higher shaft with a snug fit work really well for cropped denim styles. Let your denim graze over the booties. You can even throw on a pair of tall socks so that no skin is showing if there’s a gap between the top of your booties and the hemline of your jeans. This pair of socks was my go to last year. I’ll certainly be wearing them again this fall!
Heels
While I don’t typically gravitate towards wearing many heels, I love having a kick ass pair in my closet to pair with dresses and skirts for dressed up work days, school events, and nights out. You can’t go wrong with the pairs I included below.
I love this pair for nights out with the girls and date nights. And this pair is a great closed toe option.
