Where We’re Heading

Europe Trip - Where We're Heading

Michael and I are (finally) heading to Europe on Friday!  We booked the award flights almost a year ago so I felt like this trip would never get here!  But alas, here we are!

If you caught my Instagram Stories last night, you saw that I already packed my bag – I wanted to shoot a blog post for y’all of what I’m packing for our two week trip so it took a little planning ahead on my part.  I’m sticking to traveling with only a carry-on (specifically, the bigger Away carry-on bag!).  I’ll share everything that I’m bringing with me in next week’s Travel Tuesday post so stay tuned!

Now for the fun part, where we’re heading!  We are leaving this Friday and will be traveling for 16 days throughout Europe!  Our first stop is London, then Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, and last but not least, Amsterdam!

I’ve been to London and Paris before, but years ago.  While I’m excited to visit all of these cities, I’m most excited for Amsterdam – It looks incredibly picturesque, and I can’t wait to take a boat cruise through all of the canals!  I have a feeling that Berlin is going to be the sleeper city.  I have no idea what to expect, but I’ve heard such amazing things.

We’re staying at Airbnbs in every city except for Berlin where we used SPG points to book a hotel.  You can read my thoughts on using Airbnb while traveling abroad here (there’s also a code to receive $40 off your first stay in that post!).

If you have any “must see” or “must eat” places to recommend in any of these spots, definitely let me know in the comments below!

So excited for you – have a wonderful time! Just curious, do you have the Away Carry-On bag or the Bigger Carry-On? We are going to Italy for two weeks in September and I am trying to decide which of the two bags I need (and if the Bigger Carry-On fits airline size regulations).
    Thanks!

      Hi Lucy! Thanks so much!

I actually have both sizes in the Away carry-on. I’m taking the bigger carry-on with me – I’ll let you know if I end up getting away with carrying it on to all of our flights. It fits considerably more than the original, but it’s still not as big as your average, expandable carry-on bag.

I’d say the only reason to opt for the original is for international travel as you’re pretty much guaranteed to be able to bring it on board (with the exception of small regional carriers of course).

I’ll let you know my experience with the bigger one after our trip!

  4. I ate to admit it, but I have never stayed at an AirBNB. I may need to hit you up for some recommendations when you get back. Would consider staying at a place, if I know people who have stayed in the home/apt before! Can’t wait to follow along on IG stories!

You should totally try it out! I’ve always had amazing experiences! We like staying in Airbnb’s abroad because the hosts are WAY better than hotel concierges in regard to recommendations on restaurants and unique things to do in the particular cities. I’ll definitely let you know how ours turn out!
