I’m so excited to be sharing my first wedding related blog post with you today! All about bridesmaid gifts!

I haven’t officially shared too many details for the sole reason that it has been a bit of a whirlwind. Michael and I are getting married this coming January, in about six months! While that seems like we have a good amount of time, there’s a lot to do!

Where We’re Getting Married

It’s no secret that we love to travel. That’s why we chose to do a destination wedding! Another thing that’s no secret is our love of the beach and being by the water. Most of our trips involve a town or city on the water. Even on our recent trip to Colorado we made it a point to squeeze in lots of lake time! With that said, we’re looking forward to celebrating with our closest friends and family on the coast of somewhere beautiful … in The Bahamas!

I’ll have more to come on exactly how and why we chose The Bahamas, including where we’re actually getting married. But for now, let’s talk bridesmaids!

My Bridesmaid Story

As a little background, I’m not the girl who has imagined what the big day would look like for her entire life. I don’t have a wedding Pinterest board, and I never clipped wedding images out of magazines. But one thing I’ve always thought of and kept track of in my head is who I wanted to stand beside me on my wedding day. At this point in my life (I’m 33 for those of you who don’t know), I’ve been through several different stages and made some of my very best friends along the way – growing up/high school, college, law school. I always imagined I’d have every single person from each of those walks with me on the alter. I did the math recently – it would have been 15 #noshame.

However, when we decided to do a destination wedding, I knew I’d need to come up with a new plan. One of the draws of a destination wedding to me is that it’s more intimate. Our wedding is going to be much smaller than if we would have had it in the States. If I had all 15 of my gal pals standing beside me, there’d be no one left in the crowd!

With that said, I’m having five of my closest family and friends stand next to me on the big day! My sister, Michael’s two sisters, and two of my very best childhood friends.

Since all five of them live in Louisiana, and I didn’t have any plans to go home soon, I wanted to send them all something really fun and special to ask them to be a part of the wedding. In stepped Teak & Twine!

Bridesmaid Gifts

Teak & Twine is a local D.C. company that operates worldwide (they ship almost everywhere!). Last year, an event planning company that I’ve worked with here in D.C. sent me one of their boxes as a holiday gift. The box was adorable! It was filled with the cutest coasters, a mini bottle of champagne, a beautiful candle, and a gorgeous box of matches.

When I was thinking of ideas on how to ask my bridesmaids to be in the wedding, Teak & Twine was the first thing that popped into my mind! I wanted to stick with the destination wedding theme and when I saw The Vacay box in their Wedding Party Shop, it was perfect!

The Vacay box includes a Margarita Carry On Cocktail Kit (perfect for the flight!), a Himalayan salt shot glass (it’s gorgeous!), a fun pink Essie nail polish, and a yummy box of Sugarfina champagne gummies (wrapped in tropical print paper). All of my bridesmaids were thrilled to receive their box in the mail!

I also loved the Sea Mist box, the Bridesmaid Proposal, and the Bridesmaid box, but The Vacay just seemed the most fitting. The Teak & Twine boxes are also great for birthday gifts, client gifts, and housewarming gifts!

I had Teak & Twine ship all of the boxes to me as I wanted to include handwritten notes in each of the boxes. I then took them to my local UPS store and they packaged and shipped each box. Such an easy process!

I loved being able to partner with a local brand to include as part of our wedding!

My husband and I did a destination wedding in Riviera Maya Mexico, best decision ever. Seriously. My friends and family still talk about how great it was to this day and we’ve been married for 4 years now. So much less stress. My mindset going into it was I am getting married in a different country and I only have so much control over what will happen and everything far exceeded my expectations. Congrats!!!

That sounds wonderful!! I’m hoping for the same! It’s a bit stressful knowing you don’t have a lot of control, but it’s also one of the draws to having a destination wedding! Thanks so much for the congrats!
