Madewell Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Crop Jean Review

I have an embarrassing amount of jeans in my closet, but the funny thing is, I only wear denim from three brands: Abercrombie, Levi’s, and Madwell. Madewell makes my favorite denim by far. I have several different styles. The fit, quality, and price point make Madewell’s jeans super appealing to me.

If you’re still holding onto your skinny jeans, it’s time to try something new. I’m not saying you have to ditch them completely, although I have, but at least give the straight leg and wide leg denim a chance. The Madewell Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Crop Jean is a great pair to try! They’re high waisted, which we love, and the crop style makes the denim much easier to style than the full length version.

Fit Review of the Madewell Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Crop Jean

The Madewell Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Crop Jean has been my go-to pair of denim so far this fall. I have them in Cresslow wash (pictured), and I just ordered them in the Benley wash. If the Tile White colorway was still in stock, I would get those as well!

I always size down one size in Madewell denim, the same is true for me in this pair. I’m typically a size 26 in most denim brands, but I size down to a 25 in Madewell denim. I find Madewell pieces to generally run big.

For length, I’m 5’4″ and wear the Standard fit. Madewell offers Petite, Plus, Standard, Tall, and Taller fits in this denim style! The Standard hits right above my ankle bone. The perfect crop fit. You want cropped denim to hit right at or right above your ankle bone. Any higher and they’ll look like a true high water jean. Any longer and they’ll likely fall in that awkward look of being in between a cropped style and full length style.

What Shoes to Wear?

For some reason, we’re all finding it a bit challenging to transition from styling shoes with skinny jeans to styling shoes with wide leg jeans. The thing is, most shoe styles work with the Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Crop Jean! I styled them here with my new metallic Mary Jane flats. Any flats look great with this jean, including chunky lug sole loafers and sneakers! Check out my Fall Shoe Roundup post for some shoe inspo! As for styling these jeans with boots, you need a higher shaft bootie with a tight fit around your ankle and up your leg shaft, like these or these!
