Week In Review

Week In Review March 2019 | Cobalt Chronicles | Houston | Style Blogger

Happy Friday! I hope you had a nice week. Mine consisted of a mix of work and organizing our house … I feel like that might be how my weeks go for the next little bit! One exciting new addition to the house is a desk! At our place in DC, there was no room for a desk. Here in Houston, I have an actual office, with a desk! No more working from the kitchen table. (insert exploding confetti emoji) I picked up this one and love how it turned out!

Monday

On Monday I shared a new Wedding 101 post – my thoughts on having a welcome party. Michael and I had ours on the Thursday night before our wedding. I included our experience, why I loved it, and a few snapshots from the night in the post!

I capped the work day off with a SoulCycle class. After two solid weeks of attending classes here in Houston, I think I’ve already found my favorite instructors! If you’re in the area, try out Cat G., Pinij, and Cole!

I mentioned last week that I finally broke out our Instant Pot. On Monday night I made these Thai chicken and rice bowls, and they were delicious! The recipe yields tons of leftovers too!

Tuesday

On Tuesday I shared my first post from my Arizona trip! If you’re looking to plan a trip to the Phoenix/Mesa area, I have a handful of posts coming your way! There are so many fun spots to visit in those areas! This week I talked about the amazing mural scene in downtown Phoenix. The weather wasn’t on my side during my trip, but I was able to snap a few pics in front of a few of beautiful murals! Check out the post here!

Michael traveled to Ohio for work on Tuesday so I had the place to myself, which meant leftovers after SoulCycle and catching up on Bravo shows (my guilty pleasure!) – Vanderpump Rules, Summer House, and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are all on at the same time!

Wednesday

I was so excited to partner with HireAHelper for Wednesday’s post. I shared my number one tip for moving plus a few other things I’ve learned through two cross-country moves. If you’re moving soon, be sure to check out the post!

After work on Wednesday, I tried out a new-to-me class at YogaWorks (I go to the Heights location), Hot Core Weights. Holy smokes! I have never sweat more in a workout class in my life! The class is taught in one of their hot yoga studios – the temperature is set to 95 degrees with 40% humidity in the room. It was a great class! I’m still a little sore from it today.

I also tried out another new recipe on Wednesday night, Liz’s “weeknight turkey meatballs.” We paired them with linguine and a touch of Rao’s marinara and oh my goodness, they were so good! These meatballs will definitely be in heavy rotation for weeknight dinners!

Thursday

On Thursday I got sucked into building my new desk, which wasn’t too challenging, but did take up quite a bit of time. I had to run a few errands – I’ve been to Target more times throughout the moving process than I’d like to admit. I picked up a few more of these bins (I used them to organize our bathroom closet too), this pretty letter tray, and this file organizer.

After the tough workout class on Wednesday, I opted for a restorative vinyasa flow yoga class at YogaWorks on Thursday. At the end of a fantastic class, our instructor casually closed out the class with an a cappella version of Ave Maria during Savasana … It was amazing!

Weekend Plans

Last weekend (our first weekend in Houston), we grabbed crawfish at Boil House on Friday night and checked out Anvil Bar and One Fifth Mediterranean on Saturday, and El Tiempo on Sunday (all the rage in Houston!). We’re slowly but surely checking off restaurants on our Houston list, and we’re planning on doing the same this weekend too!

Other than eating, I’m planning on a low key weekend at home. I’m excited for the springtime temperatures and looking forward to checking out a walking/bike trail that’s near our house!

Favorite Things This Week

M-61 Microdermabrasion Scrub + Beautycounter Resurfacing Peel // I used these two products in combination this week. I used one every other night – the scrub on Monday and Wednesday and the peel on Tuesday and Thursday. My skin is feeling extra smooth and glowy today!

Juliska White Truffle Coffee Mugs // I rounded out our coffee mugs from our registry this week (we had an odd number so I added a few more to our collection). I love the clean, simpleness of the Quotidien line by Juliska!

Have a great weekend!
