Week In Review

Week In Review | Cobalt Chronicles | Modena, Italy | Washington, DC Travel Blogger
Modena, Italy

This week has been a blur, to say the least.  It genuinely feels like last Friday’s Week In Review post was a month ago … Michael and I arrived in Italy last Thursday, visited five cities in four days, got engaged (!!!), flew back to the states … and dropped right back into our normal work schedules.  Although it has been a blur, it has been one of the best week’s – I’m so thankful for all of our amazing friends, family, and readers of this blog – your outpouring congratulations has been overwhelming! 🙂

Monday

On Monday morning, Michael and I hopped on our flight back to the states from Rome.  We were running on about three hours of sleep, and I’ve never been more happy with the timing on choosing to fly in business class for the first time ever (on points, of course!).  We left Rome at 11:15 am local time and arrived back in D.C. around 7:00 pm local time that same day.

Tuesday

I skipped out on this week’s #CobaltTravels post, but don’t worry, a full Italy recap is coming soon, including a vlog or two!

Wednesday

On Wednesday I shared a peek into one of the cities that we visited, Modena.  If you watch Chef’s Table or Master of None on Netflix, I’m sure you’re familiar with the small town!  Every street looked like a scene out of a movie!  In the post I shared what I consider when choosing an outfit for exploring a new city.  I wore these Splendid sandals, which are currently on sale, the whole time in Italy!  They’re super comfortable and so cute!

Wednesday evening I joined Divine Style for a LIVE segment on spring fashion trends.  If you missed the live segment, you can check it out here!

Thursday

I popped into a local store on Thursday that I’ve been meaning to check out for a few weeks now.  If you’re in DC or even just visiting, you NEED to make a point to stop in Shop Made In DC – it’s located right across the street from the Dupont Metro Station.  Straight from their website: it’s a concept store and cafe celebrating DC’s vibrant local maker movement in a partnership with the DC Department of Small and Local Business, in order to support and provide growth opportunities for members of the city’s Made In DC Program.

I discovered that I already own a few products from the makers, like these Marcella Kriebel cocktail prints, and I stumbled upon a few new products that I love!  Including these candles that I raved about on my Instagram Stories … they’re made by three boys in the district who happened to audition for Shark Tank yesterday!

Weekend Plans

I have an early Saturday morning ahead of me!  I’m volunteering at the Bright Beginnings 5K race tomorrow morning so I’ll be up before the sun.  Michael is running in the race #bless.  Saturday afternoon we’re heading to one of our favorite events of the year in DC, the Pearl Dive crawfish boil!  This will be our fourth year in a row attending – unlimited crawfish, pass arounds, hurricanes, and Abita beer – what more could you want?!

I’m looking forward to taking it easy on Sunday – I have a few contracts projects that I need to wrap up and a SoulCycle class on tap.  Other than that, I’ll be trying to catch up on my lack of sleep!

Favorite Things

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream // To help my tired eyes look somewhat awake!  This Origins eye cream is one of my all-time favorite eye creams.  I love the texture and it really does help to brighten and depuff.

Dohm Sleep Machine // I’m addicted to this sleep machine!  So much so that I bring it on every trip with me … I accidentally fried it in Italy when I mistakenly forgot to plug it into the converter before plugging it into the adapter and into the wall.  Oops!  Amazon Prime to the rescue – I got a new one in yesterday and slept like a baby last night!
