Week In Review – Shreveport Edition

Rhino Coffee Shreveport - Week In Review - Shreveport Edition by Washington DC blogger Cobalt Chronicles

Well friends, I’m back in my hometown of Shreveport unexpectedly this weekend as my Grandma passed away last weekend.  While of course it’s sad, and we will miss her dearly – she was a true angel here on earth – she had a long, hard (yet graceful) battle with dementia over the last 10 years.  She’s in a better place now – reunited with my Papaw … and Elvis … in heaven.

This week was a long one but one worth sharing so let’s jump in my week in review, shall we?!

Monday

I had a post planned to go live per usual on Monday, however, I was unable to add the finishing touches to it because I woke up to no electricity on Monday morning (no WiFi!).  I had a conference for my 9-5 job all day so I called Monday a wash.  Sometimes you just have to go with the flow and do what you can.  Thank you for your patience with the lack of blog posts this week!

I also turned another year older on Monday!  I celebrated all weekend long with my mom and sister in town so on Monday night I requested from Michael that we head to Shake Shack (burger, fries, and a milk shake, yes please!) for dinner and call it an early night … a sign that I’m getting old?  Maybe. 😉

Tuesday

I hope you had a great Halloween!  If you follow along with me on Instagram Stories you may have seen that my street does Halloween BIG.  The police block off our street, the neighbors bring out all the grills and grill up hamburgers and hotdogs for the whole neighborhood, and we even have a DJ (a nice neighbor that sets up his booth on his front porch)!  Needless to say we had LOTS of trick-or-treaters.  There’s nothing quite as adorable as little kids dressed up in costumes, am I right?!  It was a fun night.

Wednesday

There was a special guest in Wednesday’s blog post!  I talked Michael into hopping in front of the camera to snap a few pics showing off one of his favorite brands – Filson!  If you’re in need of a good holiday gift for the guy in your life, check out the post – you can’t go wrong with any of the Filson pieces!

Thursday

I flew home to Shreveport late Wednesday night.  I took advantage of the fact that Shreveport FINALLY has Lyft (no Uber yet) and headed to my favorite local coffee shop to get a little work done Thursday morning – Rhino Coffee.  Rhino took over an old house where a bridal shop used to be located – it’s the most adorable space!  I also did a little shopping (online and in person).  I snagged two coats on MAJOR sale – this cozy blush coat (on sale for $45!) and this camel blazer coat (on sale for $37!).

The two coats plus a few other items I snagged …

Week in Review: Weekend Plans

There is a silver lining to having to come home this weekend … besides getting to spend time with my family, my two very best friends have both had babies since I was last home in June!  One is now 3 months old and one was born just last week!  I’m excited to get to meet the new additions to the crew!

Other Happenings

There are a few good sales going on this weekend worth noting:

  • J.Crew currently has 45% off tops, 30% off sweaters, and 25% off coats and boots PLUS they are offering an EXTRA 15% off purchases of at least $175 with the code MOREISMORE.  My favorite winter coat that’s going on its third year in my closet is marked 40% off!  I have it in grey, size 00.

  • Lastly, Loft is offering 40% off of tops, sweaters and scarves!

Have a great weekend!

I’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother. My Mimi is also battling dementia and I know how very difficult it is to watch the decline.
