I’m back from my New Year’s hiatus! For the first post of 2017, I wanted to reflect back a bit on 2016. 2016 was a strange year in a lot of ways, but as I looked back to write this post, so many great things happened this past year! I traveled a lot, attended not one but two blogging conferences, and capped off two (plus, now) years here in DC!
Here are a few highlights from the year …
JANUARY
2016 kicked off with a MASSIVE snowstorm that canceled our plans to go skiing, but it ended up being such a fun (long) weekend feeling stranded in our little neighborhood!
Michael and I made a trip to my beloved college town of Oxford, MS where we spent the weekend catching up with my college BFFs. And I closed out the month by traveling to Dallas to attend my first ever blogging conference! Create & Cultivate was such a motivating experience, and I connected with so many wonderful people there!
FEBRUARY
The highlight of February was definitely Michael and I’s two week trip to South East Asia. It was incredible. Check out my recaps of Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Singapore! Here are a few of my favorite snaps from the trip.

MARCH
My sister visited DC in March to run in the Rock n’ Roll 1/2 Marathon! I was pretty proud of completing this race as I hadn’t run a long distance race in quite some time, and Michael completed his first 1/2 marathon! Let’s see if we can make this happen again in 2017 …
APRIL
April involved two trips back to the Gulf Coast for weddings. I visited one of my favorite beach towns, Rosemary Beach, and made a trip to Mobile, Alabama.

MAY
May was a big month as we moved into a new apartment, which I LOVE! You can see my home tour here. And Michael and I visited San Antonio (first timers!) for a family wedding.
JUNE
I started my Travel Tuesdays series, which I plan on picking back up on very soon!
It’s not often that there are guest appearances here on Cobalt Chronicles, so this one was pretty special! =)
JULY
One of my favorite trips of the year was to Portland, Maine for the 4th of July! Portland is such a magical little town. I definitely hope to make another trip there in 2017!
AUGUST
August brought a trip to Charleston for The Blog Societies Conference where I was able to connect in real life with girls that I’ve been connected with over social media for what seems like forever. It was SUCH a great experience! On somewhat of a similar travel note, I shared all of the details on how to obtain the coveted Southwest Companion Pass for two consecutive years (now is the perfect time to get it!)!

SEPTEMBER
September seemed to be all about Shreveport. I had the opportunity, which was so surreal (!), to work with Old Navy on their 50 Styles 50 States campaign to share how my hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana and current city of DC influence my style. I also had an amazing opportunity to have one of my articles (unrelated to the Old Navy post, ha) published in Shreveport Magazine!
OCTOBER
October brought a trip to Seattle that Michael and I had been wanting to take for quite some time. It definitely didn’t disappoint! We also traveled to Baton Rouge for our annual rivalry weekend, LSU vs. Ole Miss! Michael/LSU won this year, but the Rebels will be out for revenge next year. 😉
NOVEMBER
I cut my hair AND colored it for the first time EVER! Completely unrelated, we took a trip to Charlottesville, which was a blast! I ended the month with a trip to Dallas for the Dallas Cowboys game to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family.

DECEMBER
I closed out the year with lots of fun holiday get togethers including this fun girls’ brunch and a trip home to Shreveport to celebrate Christmas.

I’d say 2016 was a pretty great year. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for following along with me here on Cobalt Chronicles! It really means so much. I love that I get to share bits and pieces of my life with all of you here, and hopefully a little bit of outfit and travel inspiration too! I look forward to spending another great year together!
Cheers to 2017!
You had such a fun and eventful year! Can’t wait to see where 2017 takes you!!
