As we’re all navigating this new (temporary) normal, there are many parts of our daily routines that we’ve had to adjust. One of those being workouts. Before all of this started, I never worked out at home. But Michael and I have now been doing at home workouts daily, every week day for three weeks. Starting on week four today! We’ve gotten into a nice little routine. And honestly, it makes me feel so much better. Like I’ve accomplished something. And it feels good to move. We’ve been rotating between three types of at home workouts and including multiple short walks during the week and long walks on the weekends.

Circuit Workouts // Michael and I have been doing circuit workouts using our at home workout gear and household items. These workouts typically last about 30 minutes. I save all of the circuit workouts to my HOME 🏋🏻♀️💪🏻 highlight on my Instagram page. We round out these workouts with a fast paced run around our block (just one block to get our heart rate up).
Free Orangetheory Classes // I don’t regularly attend Orangetheory, but I’ve been loving their free online classes! The classes are designed so that you can easily do all of the exercises with items you have around your house. The classes are about 30 minutes each. We round out these workouts with a fast paced run around our block (just one block to get our heart rate up).
Free YogaWorks Classes // My yoga studio here in Houston (and the one I attended in DC too!) is offering free live stream yoga classes! You can check out the schedule here. There are classes throughout the day, every day. Michael and I have been dedicating Friday to yoga. It’s the perfect way to end the week. The classes are between 60-75 minutes.
Neighborhood Walks // Last but not least, we’ve been going on lots of neighborhood walks! During the week, these are short walks throughout the day. One mid morning, one before or after lunch, and one after wrapping up work for the day. No need to change into workout gear. These walks are just to get a few steps in and move your body. On the weekends, we’ve been doing longer walks. Usually a 30 minute walk one day and an hour walk on the other. Walking is easy. The movement and fresh air is not only good for your physical body but for your mental health as well! Just remember to stay at least 6 feet away from others while out and about!
At Home Workout Gear
Apple Watch Series 3 | Weights (check Walmart, Target, Amazon – My Set) | Gaiam Yoga Mat (in stock here, here, here, and here) | Lululemon Wunder Under (I wear size 6) | Nike Sneakers On Sale! + Get an extra 25% off if you log in to your NikePlus account and use code LOGIN25 | Amazon Bra ( I wear a small)
You don’t need much for the at home workouts we’ve been doing. I already happened to have this set of weights and we each have a yoga mat. These items have become hard to come by, but I suggest checking back with Walmart, Target, and Amazon as the hand weights and yoga mats seem to be going in and out of stock pretty frequently. If you can’t get your hands on a yoga mat, use a couple of beach towels layered on top of one another. For weights, you can use canned vegetables, pasta sauce, or jugs of bleach or laundry detergent.
At home, I generally like to workout in just a sports bra paired with leggings. This Amazon sports bra is one of my favorites! It’s around $20 and fits great! I wear a size small. Also from Amazon, one of my favorite workout tops. I have this top in two colors. I like the cropped fit and the open arm holes. For sizing reference, I wear a small.
My Nike sneakers are currently on sale for under $100. They’re on sale, and you can get an extra 25% off by creating a NikePlus account and using code LOGIN25 – or simply log in to your account if you already have one and use the code.
And last but not least, I use my Apple Watch to track my workouts. I like that it keeps me accountable and tracks my workout time, calories burned, and steps throughout the day.
Working out at home has helped me to keep a somewhat normal routine up throughout the past few weeks. It’s a nice way to get some movement in throughout the week, and I always feel better afterwards. Even if you simply move for 30 minutes, do it. You won’t regret it!
