Black Blazer Styled Two Ways

If you follow along with me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen me rave about this blazer.  I had my eye on it for quite sometime and finally bit the bullet and bought it a few weeks ago.  It has easily become one of the most versatile pieces in my closet!  I’ve worn it with skinny black pants to work, with jeans for a speaking engagement, and dressed it up for date night.  The options are endless!

So today I thought it would be fun to share the black blazer styled two ways!

Black Blazer Styled for Date Night

The blazer works perfectly for date night with the cooler weather we’ve been having.  You can still wear a fun top but have a layering piece over it that’s far more chic and dressed up than your standard cardigan.  I paired the blazer with the softest velvet cami from Lilla P, which is currently 25% off (wearing an XS)!  I also found this super similar version that comes in black and a deep plum color (love this color for winter!).

You’ll notice that in both looks I have on the same pair of Madewell Denim (available here too).  These jeans are by far one of my favorite pair of denim.  The high waist sucks everything in, and I love the length (I’m 5’4″ for reference).  Definitely size down in these jeans, I usually wear a size 26 in Madewell denim, but I have a size 25 in these – I think it’s because they sit so high up on your waist.

To dress up the look a bit more, I paired the outfit with the perfect date night shoe for winter – a black suede heeled bootie.  These exact booties are from last year and not available online anymore, but this pair is super similar and would definitely do the trick (this pair too!).

Lastly, I topped the look off with dainty, flirty jewels.  I love these Rebecca Minkoff + Stella & Dot ear crawlers.  They’re different, fun, and go perfectly with my dainty charm necklace, also part of the Rebecca Minkoff + Stella & Dot collection.

Black Blazer Styled for Work to Happy Hour

This next way to style the black blazer is more practical, and honestly, the way I’ve worn it the most!  I’ve worn this exact look to work but just switched out the jeans for skinny black pants.  I had a more casual happy hour to attend afterwards so I threw on my Madewell jeans for a more relaxed look, and there you have it!

For a more laid back look, but still polished and put together, I like to layer my lace up blouse under the blazer.  My exact blouse is old, but I found this super similar version that’s available in 6 colors!

To keep the look work appropriate, but still chic, I wore my black mule loafers.  I wear these shoes at least four times a week … Even though they’re backless, they don’t make the dreaded flip-flop sound, so they work in my office setting.

Lastly, I kept the jewelry minimal.  Along with my classic Timex watch, I wore small stud earrings and a new piece by one of my favorite jewelry designers, this simple but gorgeous gold band ring by Lacee Alexandra.

SO darn cute, Ashlee! I love both looks, especially the velvet cami look! I agree, Madewell jeans are by far the best.

Thanks Roxanne! Excited to break out the cami this weekend! And I can’t get enough of the Madewell jeans … I may have gone overboard with the Black Friday sale … ha
