June Recap, Look Ahead to July

I say this every month, but I can’t believe it’s already July! I feel like we’re in the thick of summertime, and I’m really excited for a couple of upcoming summer trips! Before jumping into July, let’s take a look back at June and chat about the blog posts you loved, the items you clicked on the most, and more! And if you missed my May recap, you can check it out here!

Travel

June was a busy travel month. I was out of town every other weekend and had one mid-week trip too!

I made two trips home to Shreveport in June. Michael and I had a wedding there one weekend and I made a trip during the work week to support a St. Jude fundraising event (raffle tickets for the Dream Home are still available!). You can read about the event here!

Michael and I spent a weekend in Cleveland, OH for a wedding. We arrived to Cleveland early Friday morning so we had the entire weekend to explore the city. Michael shared a recap of our trip in a recent blog post. To be honest, I had pretty low expectations of what Cleveland would be like, but it totally surprised me! Michael and I both actually loved the city. It sits right on Lake Erie, has a beautiful river running through the city, and there’s great restaurants, breweries, and lots to do!

I closed out the month with a trip to my college town of Oxford, MS for a girls’ weekend with my college girlfriends. We had a blast! If you’ve never been to Oxford, definitely but it on your list. It’s the most charming college town there ever was (although I may be a bit biased). There are so many good restaurants, bars, and places to shop. We had the best weekend!

Wellness

Wellness is always something I’m working on and these posts are an easy way to not only keep myself accountable, but hopefully a place to share a bit of inspiration and a dose of reality as well.

Workouts

I mentioned last month that I’ve been incorporating more weight lifting into my workouts. That was going really well until I got kicked out of Michael’s gym. HA! It’s his office gym, and apparently, they’re sticklers for the rules, and since I don’t work in the building, I can no longer workout there. Two thumbs down! So I’m in the process of trying out a couple of new gyms near my house. I’m sure I’ll have a better update on this saga in my July recap!

With the lack of weight training workouts, I’ve upped my SoulCycle and YogaWorks classes and have been trying to incorporate a few outdoor runs recently. I also had the opportunity to take a Barry’s Bootcamp class! They opened their first studio in Houston this month!

Makeup & Skincare

I mentioned last month that I finally snagged the Flawless In Five set from Beautycounter! The Flawless In Five set is a bundled set of 6 makeup products that you can use to look put together and get out the door in under 5 minutes. I’m LOVING the set! I use all 6 products on a daily basis. You get to pick all of the shades and colors to match your skin and preference! It’s a great way to dip your toes into clean makeup products! The set I have is pictured below.

On the Beautycounter front, they’re running a special now through July 5th – when you spend $175 or more, you’ll get your choice of either the Countermatch sample set or the Countercontrol sample set for FREE! I have most of the Countermatch products and love them! This is a great way to try out some Beautycounter’s clean skincare products!

Home Products

I mentioned last month that I switched out a few cleaning products in our home to natural cleaners. I’m still loving my homemade surface cleaner, glass cleaner, and laundry stain remover. I used my Thieves household cleaner to make all three.

If you’re interested in learning more about Thieves, you can pop over here to join Young Living and place an order for yourself! I’m in a Facebook group that has served as a great resource on how to make my own cleaning products from the Thieves cleaner (it’s super concentrated so I only use one cap full of the product to make most 8 ounce bottles of cleaner). I’m excited to start swapping out a few more household products to cleaner versions as I run out of products I’m currently using.

I also love Follain’s Everything Soap – I have several bottles around our house. And they’re candles too! They are non-toxic and free of artificial fragrances.
