I’m back with a monthly recap. Month two of 2023 is in the books, and it was a busy one! We were in full Mardi Gras mode for the month of February. The bigger Mardi Gras parades run for almost two straight weeks here in New Orleans, and we conveniently live just a few blocks off the main parade route. Living so close to the parade route is amazing, but it’s also exhausting. Ha Here’s a peek at the first weekend of parades!

We attended parades every evening for almost two straight weeks and ended Mardi Gras season by celebrating in the French Quarter on Mardi Gras day. Mardi Gras day is so special here in New Orleans. Everyone dresses up in extravagant, celebratory costumes and parades through the streets of the Marigny and the French Quarter. This is in addition to Mardi Gras day parades like Zulu and Rex that roll through the city on Fat Tuesday. This year was my first year to venture to the Quarter for Mardi Gras day. For our costumes, we joined in with a group of friends and had an 80s prom theme. Everyone’s outfits were amazing! You can see my costume here!

On the same Mardi Gras note, W was out of school for over a week for Mardi Gras break, which is kind of crazy but I suppose it’s life in New Orleans. We took advantage of his school break and booked a trip back to one of our favorite resorts, Baha Mar. This was my fourth time to visit Baha Mar, and it’s also where we got married! I updated my comprehensive blog post on the resort to include new insights on visiting with a child as this trip was the first time we’ve brought W along!

After our busy month, I’ve been enjoying getting back into our usual routine at home. I’ve been purging and organizing closets (you can shop my Poshmark closet here!) as the feel of spring is definitely in the air!

Items You’re Loving the Most: Best Sellers This Month

I love seeing what you’re shopping! As a little behind the scenes, on the backend, I can see the most clicked on items out of the items I share. I love seeing what’s catching your eye!

  1. New Balance 327s. I’m obsessed with mine! This style sells out so quickly. Here’s a similar colorway I found fully stocked (for now). I recommend sizing up at least a 1/2 size from your usual size. I ended up sizing up a full size, but admittedly, they’re a little big on me. Seen wearing here.
  2. Toddler Cat & Jack Sandals. These were perfect for the beach and have been great for swim lessons too! I’m sure W will be wearing these all summer! Available in lots of colors and fit TTS.
  3. Toddler Swim Shorts. I stocked up on these swim shorts for W for our beach trip, but again, they’ve come in super handy for swim lessons too! I paired them with these swim shirts. Both the shorts and shirts are available in lots of colors.
  4. Crinkled Chiffon Shirt. I now own this shirt in the black and white stripe (seen wearing here) and the hot pink (seen wearing here)! It’s so good. It runs oversized. I own the XS in both.
  5. Beach Hat. This hat is worth every penny. I’ve had it for several years now, and it has held up great! It keeps its shape through travel, beach wear, and getting wet in the pool. I have it in an XS. Seen wearing here.

Recs & Reviews

Michael and I recently watched the new Knives Out movie, Glass Onion. I really enjoyed it! It had The Menu vibes. It’s a mystery themed movie with lots of twists and turns. The cast is stacked with A-listers including Daniel Craig, Kate Hudson, Edward Norton, and Janelle Monáe.

On the TV front, we finished the first season of Mayor of Kingstown. It stars Jeremy Renner and centers around a fictitious town in Michigan where the business of the town’s jails and penitentiaries seems to be the main industry. It’s dark but a good watch! I’m looking forward to season two! We also watched season one of Full Swing, the new golf documentary on Netflix. It follows golfers on the PGA Tour through the 2022 season. If you’re at all interested in golf or know of any PGA golfers, I’d highly recommend watching! Michael is a huge golf fan, I end up watching the tournaments by default. I really enjoyed getting a behind the scenes look at several of the golfers on Tour through this series.

In books, I finished Book Lovers by Emily Henry. It’s a cute, easy read. After tearing through Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us and It Starts With Us, I was excited to dive into another Colleen Hoover read. I TORE through November 9! It was so good. There’s just something about her books that suck me in.

A Look Ahead to March

I’m looking forward to a slower month with little to no travel. March is my month to settle into spring. I’m excited to purge and flip my closet, clean up our backyard, and work on a few house projects!

Cheers to a new month!
