We’ve been in our house for ten-ish months now. We’ve done a few home projects like enlarging and outfitting our primary closet, having a larger window installed in our kitchen, and having the entire interior painted. But what I’m MOST excited about is furnishing our new home! Michael and I have lived in rentals together since we started dating over ten years ago! The majority of our furniture is from our 700 square foot Washington, DC apartment. Needless to say, we’re ready for a few upgrades to fit our new open living space.
Living Room Decor Ideas
With the help of a good friend and talented interior designer, we’ve come up with a game plan for our living space. Our living room, kitchen, and dining area are all open and make up one large space upon entering our home. We’re focusing on the living room and dining space at the moment as we hope to redo our kitchen area at some point in the next few years.
We’re spacing out our furniture purchases because everything is so dang expensive. I want to make intentional purchases and only buy pieces we love! Our first big purchase was our rug. I’m obsessed. We went with the largest option in this gorgeous Kehoe rug by Lulu and Georgia. It is absolutely beautiful and makes the space look so much bigger! I’m so happy with it. The rug alone has made such an impact on the room!
Next on our list is this burl wood media console. It’s such a beautiful piece. I’m very much looking forward to the day when the television cords aren’t visible on our wall.
I pulled together all of the pieces we’re eyeing for our living space in case you’re needing some living room decor inspo as well. I’ve been having so much with the design process, and now I’m just daydreaming about the day it all comes together!

Your living room decor ideas are absolutely stunning! I love how you’ve combined different textures and colors to create a cozy yet chic space. The use of soft neutrals and pops of color is on point, and the furniture arrangement is perfect for conversation and relaxation. The attention to detail, from the accent pillows to the coffee table styling, is truly inspiring.
