August Recap Plus September Happenings

It’s hard to believe the summer months are gone, and we’re heading into fall!  I hope you had a nice Labor Day weekend.  Michael and I spent the weekend in Lake Tahoe and Napa.  These photos were snapped at one of the vineyards we visited while in Napa, Rombauer.  I’ll have a full recap of our time in Napa next week, but for now, I wanted to continue with my monthly recaps and take note of few happenings from August!  If you missed last month’s recap post, check it out here!

Fitness Goals

If you follow along with my Week In Review posts or on Instagram, you know that my love for SoulCycle still runs strong.  In August I kept up with my goal to attend at least three classes per week.

In last month’s recap post, I mentioned wanting to try out solidcore classes.  I jumped on the train and haven’t looked back.  My goal is to incorporate two solidcore classes per week into my workout routine.  When I asked for opinions on solidcore on Instagram, the consensus was that it is a HARD workout.  That’s the truth!  It might be the hardest workout I’ve ever done.  The entire class is spent on what the instructors refer to as a “carriage.”  I work muscles I never even knew I had.  It has been nice to incorporate a strength workout class in with SoulCycle classes.

Wedding Planning

All of the big ticket items in the planning process are officially checked off!  We’re signing a contract with our videographer this week.  After that, it’s all details.  My mom and I are visiting the venue in The Bahamas later this month so we should have a good grasp on everything heading into October!

So far here on the blog I’ve shared my bridesmaid story and how I asked my bridesmaids to be in our weddingwhy we chose to get married in The Bahamas, my wedding dress shopping experience, and our wedding invitations and how we designed them.  Any other wedding planning topics you’re interested in hearing about?  Let me know!  Shoot me an email at [email protected] or comment on this post!

Travel

I kicked off the month of August in Shreveport, Louisiana where I spent a week at home visiting family and friends.  I traveled to Atlanta to host a workshop at The Blog Societies Conference (see my recap here!) and spent a couple of days catching up with friends in Birmingham, Alabama.  Michael and I ended the month in Lake Tahoe and Napa, California with his family.  Tahoe and Napa were amazing!  I can’t wait to share more of my trip with you (next week)!

September is going to be another heavy travel month.  I’m heading to NYC this Friday for a quick day trip.  Michael and I are off to Portland, Oregon for a long weekend trip next weekend.  The following weekend I’m flying to New Orleans to meet my mom to head to The Bahamas.  And I’m ending the month in Baton Rouge for the LSU/Ole Miss game!  I feel like I need a nap already …

Outfit Details

Let’s talk outfit details!  You NEED this jumpsuit in your life!  I haven’t shopped at Urban Outfitters in quite some time.  But when I saw this jumpsuit online, I thought it was worth revisiting UO.  It is perfection!

The material is light, airy, and so incredibly comfortable.  It’s super flattering as the seam hits right under the bust and then the material flares out a bit.  The buttons are my favorite part.  And I can’t not mention the pockets!  The colors are perfect for fall while the fabric is made for those 90 degree temps we’re still facing here in DC.

Shop the jumpsuit here!
