Week In Review

Week In Review | Cobalt Chronicles | Washington, DC | Style Blogger

Still hopelessly waiting on spring to arrive in D.C. … #sorrynotsorry for continuing to complain about the cold weather.  This Louisiana gal is not used to freezing temps in April!  The bright side … it’s Friday!

Let’s take a look back at the week, shall we?!

Monday

The new week kicked off a new month!  I shared my new favorite jeans, which I have on while typing this, plus my goals for April!  I’ve received a lot of comments/questions about giving up sugar (one of my goals this month) – I added in a few ideas for posts towards the end of the month to provide you with an update on how it went, what meals I’ve been eating, and what has been the hardest thing about giving up the addiction (after just one week off of sugar, it’s clear that it’s truly an addiction!).  I’ll be sure to keep you posted!  My friend Sarah recommended checking out Skinnytaste for good sugar-free recipes so I’ll definitely be checking those out!

Monday evening I took my usual spin class at SoulCycle to sweat out the weekend!

Tuesday

In this week’s #CobaltTravels post, I revived an older post since D.C. tourist season is upon us!  If you’re visiting D.C. soon or even if you’re a local and want to see my favorite spots to eat around the city, be sure to check out the post!  I shared my top restaurants for each meal: breakfast/coffee, lunch and dinner!

I planned on getting another SoulCycle ride in on Tuesday but work got in the way.  Life happens and sometimes priorities have to shift, ya know?  I signed up for a weekend class to make up for it. 🙂

Wednesday

The same work got in the way Wednesday morning when I had planned on finishing up a blog post to go live that day.  This RARELY happens.  Like, I think I’ve skipped a post-day less than five times ever.  Giving myself a little grace here.  Back to regularly scheduled programming next week!

Wednesday evening I met up with my blogging gal pals at The Hay-Adams hotel bar, Off the Record, for happy hour cocktails.  This was my first time to check out the iconic Washington hotel – it’s right across the street from the White House, and even more spectacular, it had blooming cherry blossoms out front this week!  If you’re looking for a very D.C. bar to check out in town, this is it.

Thursday

On Thursday evening I attended a dinner hosted by my friend Sylvia at Boulangerie Christophe in Georgetown.  If you hop on over to my Instagram Stories, you might be able to catch a glimpse of the night.  Boulangerie Christophe is a wonderful little french bakery owned by two guys from St. Tropez.  You are greeted with traditional french pastries and sandwiches at the counter when you walk in.  It’s easy to grab something to go or you can stay for a while on their lovely patio or perch up in their dining area.  I can’t recommend this spot enough!  It would be perfect for a girl’s lunch break while shopping in Georgetown!

Weekend Plans

If the weather cooperates, I’m planning on heading down to the Tidal Basin to check out the cherry blossoms!  They peaked this week, so this is likely the last weekend to see them in all their glory!  I’ll be taking over the Modus Hotels Instagram Stories to share the cherry blossoms there so hop on over to their page and give them a follow and be sure to follow along this weekend!

Favorite Things This Week

If you missed last week’s Week In Review post, check it out for the back story on this new addition to my Week In Review posts!

Southwest Points & the Southwest Companion Pass // If you’ve been around here long enough, you know I LOVE flying Southwest.  This week I was reminded (again) why I love them.  Michael and I booked a trip to the beach to meet my family there this summer.  A ton of the Wanna Getaway flights were already sold out, leaving only the more expensive options.  But, since we stock up on Southwest Points AND we have the Companion Pass, we were able to book one flight with points and then add on the other person as the companion!  We paid $11.20 total (for the taxes and fees). #win

Emergency C // I managed to make it all the way through the dreaded flu season without catching anything, but this week I caught an icky cold.  Emergency C has been my drink of choice every day this week.  I’m doing my best to ignore the cold and fight it off!

St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse // With the cold weather sticking around, I need SOMETHING to make it feel like warmer weather is here.  The St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse is my absolute favorite at-home self-tanner.  It works wonders and has put a little springtime pep in my step this week!  It’s super easy to apply, just make sure you use the mitt.  And you don’t have to sleep in it, the color shows pretty quickly.  I like to put it on right after I shower.

And that’s a wrap!  Have a great weekend!

Oooh I can’t wait to see how you get along with giving up sugar! I’ve debated doing it as well because I know how much I’m addicted to it..!

It has been hard, but also really informative! Now I actually look at how much sugar is in food that I eat every single day. Definitely a learning process!

It has been tough! More importantly, it has been a learning experience so far! Definitely feel better educated about what I’m eating.
