Happy Friday! The cheerful latte above is from the new-to-DC spot, Bluestone Lane. I’ll either be hitting this little spot up or the new coffee shop at the Line Hotel here in DC this weekend. I hope you have a wonderful weekend planned! But before we get there, let’s take a look back at the week, shall we?!
Monday
Monday started off with a bit of a treacherous start when Michael and I and our two friends who we traveled with had to make the drive from Park City to the Salt Lake City airport in the midst of a snow storm. We made it to the airport and actually boarded our flight on time. However, we ended up sitting on the runway for over two hours waiting for our plane to be de-iced. It was a bit annoying, but I honestly, didn’t think that much of it. The very next day, I received an email from Southwest apologizing for the delay, and on top of that, they sent both Michael and I a $100 voucher for a future flight! Just another reason why I love Southwest!
Tuesday
In Tuesday’s #CobaltTravels post, I recapped our trip to Park City and shared how we got there, where we stayed, what we did, and where we ate. There’s also a link to Michael’s VLOG that he made of our trip!
Tuesday evening I got back into the swing of my regular schedule and hit up SoulCycle after work.
Wednesday
Wednesday’s post was short and sweet. I shared five pairs of sneakers that are perfect for spring (and under $100!). If you caught my Instagram Stories from last night, I shared the mint green Adidas pair in real life. I can’t wait to wear them all through the spring and summer!
After work on Wednesday, I tried out my first hour-long meditation class. You’ve likely seen me mention my meditation classes at Take Five Meditation before, and one of the things I like most about the majority of the classes is that the class time is only 30 minutes. Half an hour doesn’t seem like too big of a time commitment, which I really like, so I was a bit hesitant for the hour long class. It turned out to be wonderful! The class was a yoga nidra class, which is essentially a “conscious nap.” It’s like a nap, but you’re actually awake the whole time. It was immensely restorative!
Thursday
On Thursday I did some adulting and went to the eye doctor. I seriously need to replace my lenses on my Warby Parker glasses – how do they get so scratched up?! I hit up an early SoulCycle class and then joined a few folks from class plus a few of the SoulCycle studio folks for a fun happy hour to celebrate National Margarita Day (yes, that’s a thing). Just another reason why I love SoulCycle – it’s seriously like a little community!
Weekend Plans
I’m super excited to sleep in a bit this weekend. Last weekend, I was up before 8 am every single day to hit the slopes so hopefully I can get a bit more shut eye over the next couple of days.
I’m cheating on SoulCycle tomorrow, but for a good cause! The Junior League of Washington, specifically my smaller community group, is hosting a charity ride at Flywheel where all of the proceeds from the class go straight to my favorite organization, Bright Beginnings. If you’re in DC, you should totally join! The ride is at 1:30pm tomorrow at the City Center location. You can sign up here if you’re interested!
Michael and I are in the home stretch of training for the DC Rock N Roll Half Marathon that we are running in a few weeks. This weekend we have a 9-mile run in front of us. I’ll be happy to knock that out!
Other than lots of cardio (lol), I’m planning on laying pretty low. It’s supposed to be rainy most of the weekend, so that will lend itself nicely to staying in, getting work done, and perhaps knocking out a few movies on my watch list!
Other Happenings
I’ll leave you with a few things I enjoyed reading on the interwebs this week …
- This article by Grace in response to the ridiculous New York Times piece earlier this week on yoga pants. Couldn’t agree with Grace more. Rock that spandex, girl!
- Loved this piece I stumbled across on Twitter … just a friendly reminder that you don’t always have to take the traditional route! My favorite quote from the article: “There are thousands of people out there pushing paper and going through the motions because they think that’s what they have to do in order to succeed.”
- A couple of ladies that I met through a Facebook group that I’m part of (I love the internet), launched an awesome newsletter this week called the sheTribe. I knew it was in the works, and to say I was NOT disappointed with the debut this week would be an understatement. It’s a once-a-week newsletter that’s full of useful and entertaining info. Sign up here! P.S. Yours truly may be making an appearance in one of the newsletters soon, so be sure to sign up so you don’t miss the feature! 😉
I love Yoga Nidra! It was tough for me at first to justify an hour long class of what’s essentially napping but it’s just SO restorative and relaxing. Totally worth it.
YES! Agree with everything you said! Take Five offers a 30 minute Yoga Nidra too, but I really did enjoy the hour long class!
All of your soulcycle-ing has been so inspiring for me to get in a workout most days of the week! If you wanted to add something new to your schedule, definitely try Solidcore, which has been my favorite the last 6 months. It’s definitely a good way to change up the routine.
Hi Sydney! Yay! So glad my over-sharing helped out! Haha I’ve definitely been intrigued by Solidcore! I haven’t tried it out yet, but perhaps as soon as I complete the half-marathon I’m training for I’ll give it a try! Thanks for the suggestion!!
