Week In Review

Week In Review | Cobalt Chronicles | Washington, DC | Style Blogger

This week has been a good one!  I hate to be cryptic, but  I made an exciting change this week that I can’t wait to share with you!  Coming soon in a blog post, promise!  Now if it would just stop raining … If you live in the Northeast, you feel my pain.  It has been raining in DC for three days straight and isn’t supposed to let up until late Saturday.  I don’t know how Seattle folks do it …

Let’s jump in to this week’s Week In Review!

Monday

My mom and sister left DC and headed back to Louisiana early Monday morning.  Since they were in town all weekend, I opted to skip out on getting a new post up on Monday and just spent time with them on Sunday.

Monday evening Michael and I checked out a new addition to the super hip cocktail bar, Morris American Bar.  They just opened  a patio this week for the summer.  Their cocktails are out of this world.  The summer cocktail list includes tons of fun drinks with crushed ice and refreshing fruit.  I’ll definitely be heading back there soon!

Tuesday

On Tuesday morning, I had a nice morning coffee date at Emissary with my friend Katie who runs her own business consulting company for creative entrepreneurs – check her out here!

I shared a recap of my weekend trip with my mom and sister to NYC in this week’s #CobaltChroniclesTravels post!  It’s the first time in a while that I’ve been to New York and LOVED every place we ate!  Check out the post for info on where we stayed, where we ate, and what we did!

I finally got back to SoulCycle Tuesday night after taking an entire week off!  My home studio (14th Street) just received all new bikes!  It felt so good to get a sweat session in after indulging all weekend in NYC.

Wednesday

I switched it up a bit on Wednesday and tried an early morning Soul ride.  I rarely workout in the mornings.  It was a nice change of pace and definitely nice to get it out of the way early in the day.  I’m still on the fence on whether or not I enjoy the morning workouts though …

Wednesday, here on the blog, I shared a roundup of beach essentials!  I’m SO ready for a beach getaway!  I’m hardcore eyeing this linen jumpsuit from the roundup.  The reviews are incredible, and it looks perfect for a post-beach-day dinner!

Thursday

A rare Thursday post went live this week (making up for missing Monday)!  As a follow up to Wednesday’s post, I rounded up a few of my favorite swimsuits for the summer!  This is my pick for dipping my toes into the one piece game and this is my favorite two piece of the bunch!

I checked out the new Joe and the Juice here in DC on Thursday.  It’s a new-to-dc coffee shop close to downtown.  It has a cool vibe inside, lots of room to work and/or catch up with friends, and the coffee was delicious!

Michael’s parents and aunt and uncle arrived in DC Thursday evening.  We had grand plans to take the new water taxi from Georgetown to the new Wharf, but the rain really put a damper on our plans.  We made the most of the night and grabbed drinks on the rooftop at Whiskey Charlie (the rain let up for about an hour) and dinner at Mi Vida.

Weekend Plans

I’m hoping the rain doesn’t wash out Jazz in the Garden tonight.  It’s one of my favorite things to do in DC during the summer months, and it officially kicks off tonight!  If you’re unfamiliar, every Friday during the summer there’s a jazz band at the Sculpture Garden – tons of people come out and they sell sangria, beer and wine.  It’s the perfect place to wind down after the work week!

Other than that, I’ll be playing tourist all weekend with Michael’s family!  I love showing people around DC so I’m excited to hit up a few spots that we don’t go that often like the Mall and POV (for the view).

Favorite Things

A few of my favorite things this week!

L.L. Bean Boots // It stormed here in DC on Monday and Tuesday night and has been steadily raining since Wednesday.  These Bean Boots are a pair of shoes that sit in my closet without much use most of the time.  However, during stretches like this, I’m SO glad I picked them up a few years ago when I visited their flagship store in Maine!  They last forever, and they’re pretty cute if I do say so myself!  I have the navy pair.  As a sizing note, I sized down an entire size from my normal size 7 to a size 6.

The Ordinary “Buffet” Face Serum // If you follow along on Instagram Stories, you likely saw me mention this product earlier in the week.  I’ve heard amazing things about The Ordinary skincare products, so I made a point to stop in Deceim, where their products are sold, in NYC last weekend.  I’ve been using the “Buffet” serum all week (in the am and pm, under my moisturizer), and I’m loving it!  A great thing about The Ordinary products is their price point!  Totally worth a try and if you don’t love them, no sweat since their products aren’t super pricey!

Dallas Cowboys Sweatshirt (on sale) // I also shared this cozy, vintage inspired sweatshirt on Instagram Stories earlier this week!  And I’ve worn it every night since … It’s the coziest, softest sweatshirt I own!  It doesn’t look like the sweatshirt comes in any other teams except the Cowboys, so if you’re a Dallas fan, lucky you!  The sweatshirt is on sale for $45 and is perfect for lounging now and so cute for game days come the fall!
