Week In Review

Everlane Criss Cross Slides

It’s Friday! Hooray! AND it’s a holiday weekend! Michael and I were in Baton Rouge last weekend, and we’re heading to Shreveport next weekend, so I’m looking forward to a low key three-day weekend here in Houston. I hope you have fun and relaxing plans for the weekend ahead! Before we jump too far into the weekend, a little week in review …

Monday

On Monday I shared an Amazon find that has actually stood the test of {$20 dress} time. I’ve had the dress I shared in the post for almost a year, and I actually have it in two colors. I still wear both regularly! It’s super versatile – easy to pair with flats, dress up with heels, or throw on over a swimsuit for the pool!

I mentioned over the last couple of weeks that I’ve been making a point of adding more weight training into my workouts … this week was a true testament to the fact that when I’m in town and in my normal routine, I am ON IT with my workouts! On Monday morning I joined Michael at the gym for a weight session and then ended the day with a ride at SoulCycle! All in all, I hit the gym on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, attended SoulCycle on Monday and Wednesday, and I’m heading to hot yoga today (Friday)!

Tuesday

I stared Tuesday morning out with a gym workout and then spent most of my day working from home – our AC decided to go out but thankfully a repair man was able to come same-day and repair it. It’s already SO hot in Houston!

There are tons of great sales going on for Memorial Day weekend. One of those is the rag & bone sale! I shared a few of my top picks from the sale on Tuesday! A few other noteworthy sales happening right now … the Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale, Stella & Dot, and Serena & Lily.

Wednesday

Along with all of the Memorial Day sales, Beautycounter announced a promotion it’s running through the weekend on Wednesday. You can get all the details in my blog post here. Essentially, if you spend $125 or more, you’ll receive 2 FREE mineral sunscreens! If you’re on my newsletter list (subscribe here if you’re not!), I shared some interesting sunscreen facts regarding safe sunscreen vs. potentially harmful sunscreen.

I went into more detail in the newsletter, but here’s a little taste, according to ABC News:

“The FDA announced [Thursday] that it has proposed a rule to declare mineral sunscreen ingredients as safe, specifically zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. The agency said 12 other chemicals commonly used in sunscreens need more research to determine if they’re can be officially listed as safe, including oxybenzone and octinoxate.” You can read the full article here.

If you haven’t made the switch to a mineral sunscreen just yet, be sure to check your sunscreens this weekend for the chemicals mentioned above! You can browse Beautycounter’s safe, mineral sunscreens here!

Thursday

On the same safer beauty note, I created a new Instagram handle this week solely to chat about clean beauty and clean living! It’s a private account (just request, and I’ll accept!) where I really want to build a community where we can all learn from each other about how to incorporate cleaner, safer products into our everyday lives! I’m also offering an additional special in combination with Beautycounter’s current promo – so head over there to check it out and join in on the fun! Hint: FREE shipping! 😉

Speaking of Instagram, I love my Insta family! I asked for Houston doctor recommendations a few weeks ago, and y’all came through! I had a dentist appointment on Thursday, and it was the best dentist experience I’ve had in ages! If you’re in Houston and looking for a dentist, check out Moers Family Dentistry!

Another testament as to why I love Instagram – I met up with an Instagram friend IRL last night for happy hour at one of my favorite neighborhood spots, Postino. The internet is a crazy place, and I love it!

Weekend Plans

Like I mentioned above, Michael and I are staying put in Houston for the long weekend. I’m excited to have a low-key Friday night – we’re heading to Sonic Hot Yoga at YogaWorks and then likely grabbing a casual dinner before calling it a night. We don’t have any set plans, but I’m thinking we’ll likely hit up an Astros game, and I REALLY want to see Aladdin!

Favorite Things This Week

byta Reusable Mug // I grabbed both Michael and myself one of these byta reusable mugs a few weeks ago, and I’m obsessed! We both have the 16 oz. Michael has grey and I have the himalayan pink. I use it a few times a week and even bring it to my favorite coffee shops for them to fill up on the weekends (no more plastic cups, yay!).

Everlane Criss Cross Slides // {pictured above} I shared these slides on Instagram this week and have mentioned them a few times, but I really can’t stop wearing them! They are made of the softest Italian leather! They don’t need any break-in time. They’re super comfortable and so cute!

Gorjana Sunburst Necklace // Another recent purchase that has become part of my everyday look is this Gorjana Sunburst necklace. I love wearing it alone or layering it with other gold necklaces (currently, this one and this one).

Have a great holiday weekend!
