Surprise, today’s my birthday!  Another year older, and another year wiser (or at least that’s what they say).  My birthday snuck up on me this year.  I blame it on all of the travel I’ve been doing lately – time flies when you’re on the road and having fun!  I’m excited to be celebrating another year.  And as an added bonus, I’m spending the day celebrating in the Turks & Caicos!

I know birthdays aren’t something everyone looks forward to, but the way I look at is if you’re lucky enough to be given another year to celebrate here on this beautiful earth, you might as well embrace it and be grateful for it!  As I get older, I find myself not only celebrating the day but also reflecting a bit too.  Today I thought it would be fun to share 10 things I’m grateful for on my 34th birthday!  So here we go …

Spending My Birthday On the Beach!

I’m happiest by the water, especially by the ocean.  I feel so incredibly grateful to have a job that allows me to travel to amazing places and experience different cultures.  I’m especially grateful to be spending my birthday on the beach, in the Turks & Caicos, on a work trip with Michael (but let’s be honest, we’re in the Turks & Caicos, a place where it’s easy to mix a little business with pleasure!)!

Marrying Michael During My 34th Year

Speaking of Michael, I’m super excited for the year ahead because I get to marry Michael in this 34th year of my life!  January 2019, here we come!

My Family

Something I never take for granted is my family.  I have the most supportive and loving mom, dad, sister, and brother-in-law that anyone could ever ask for!  I’m also super grateful to have an amazing extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who I’m always able to pick right back up with no matter how much time has passed since we last saw each other.  I also feel very lucky to have hit the in-law lottery with Michael’s family!

Hometown Friends, College Friends, Law School Friends, DC Friends

I’m so incredibly thankful for all of my friends that I’ve made throughout different stages of my life.  The recent wedding festivities have made me even more aware of how amazing my friends are to me!  Forever grateful for my core group! 🙂

Getting to Do What I Love

A day never goes by that I am not extremely humbled by the fact that I work for myself through two businesses that I created from the ground up.  Neither of those businesses would be possible without your support!  Thank you SO MUCH for your continued support of Cobalt Chronicles!  It means the world to me!

Physical Health

I’m extremely grateful for the fact that I’m able to run outside, go on walks, take SoulCycle classes, try out new group workouts, and even run long distance races.  When I’m training for distance races, one of the things I always tell myself is that I should feel lucky to have the ability to run!  And it’s the truth!  I feel incredibly blessed to have my physical health.

Mental Health

Not only am I grateful for my physical well being, I’m also grateful for my mental health.  Something that is often take for granted.

Self-Confidence

I’m a firm believer in the fact that along with age comes a greater sense of self-confidence.  As I’ve gotten older, I care far less about what others might think of me.  I’m confident in my own skin, in my own beliefs, and in my own decisions.

Being Able to Vote Next Week!

This one is a result of the timing of my 34th birthday … Mid-term elections are next week!  Something that I often take for granted, living in a country where I can cast my vote freely and it matters!  I generally keep my blog free of politics and try to keep a generally positive tone, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let your voice be heard and get out and vote on Tuesday!  Don’t take for granted your right to be heard.  Do it for me, as a birthday present.  🙂

Another Year

Last but not least, I’m grateful for another year here on earth!  That’s something to be grateful for right?!

Cheers to year 34, may it be the best one yet!
