What’s In My Shower | Clean Beauty Shower Essentials

As I’m sure you know by now, I’ve really been making an effort over the last year or so to swap out makeup, skincare products, household products, and really anything that might be harmful that I keep in my home and/or put on my body to clean, non-toxic products. I recently shared my clean beauty everyday makeup routine and I shared why I made the switch to clean sunscreen here.

Today I’m sharing what’s in my shower! With the clean swaps, I try to live by the 80/20 rule. For example, the Aveeno shaving cream I currently use (and have used for years) isn’t the cleanest – it has a couple of chemicals in it that the EWG deems concerning. I haven’t found a good clean shaving cream that doesn’t cost a fortune. If you have any recommendations, leave a comment on this post! 🙂

To keep it simple and easy to make clean swaps, I mostly shop at Beautycounter and Follain. Why? Because they only carry clean products. So I know anything I purchase from either is going to be free of harmful chemicals and toxins.

Let’s jump in!

Clean Beauty Shower Essentials

Shampoo // I’ve tried several clean shampoos and the Daily Shampoo by Beautycounter is by far my favorite! I repurchase this product over and over. One of the hard things to find in a clean shampoo is that it lathers well – this one lathers like any other shampoo! And keeps my hair clean for days (I wash my hair 2 to 3 times a week).

Conditioner // Along with the Daily Shampoo, I also use the Daily Conditioner by Beautycounter. It’s a nice compliment to the shampoo and leaves my hair detangled and moisturized without leaving any sort of oily film behind.

My Body Wash // Michael and I use two different body washes, so you’ll notice two in the photos. I love Beautycounter’s Body Wash in Citrus Mimosa! It smells heavenly, lathers well, and leaves me feeling fresh and clean!

Michael’s Body Wash // Michael prefers the Counterman Energizing Charcoal Body Wash. It has a more manly scent to it than the Citrus Mimosa and has charcoal in it so it’s a darker color than most body washes. The charcoal, in my opinion, is for heavy duty cleansing, great for guys!

My Face Cleanser // Again, Michael and I use two different face cleansers. I love, love, love the Pure Calm Cleansing Milk. It smells like fresh oats and has a wonderful milky texture to it. My face always feels so clean, fresh, and hydrated after using it.

Michael’s Face Cleanser // Michael prefers (and raves about) the Counterman Daily Exfoliating Cleanser. He purchases this cleanser on repeat (or rather he requests that I order it for him on repeat). It’s a great everyday cleanser for guys that tend to have normal to oily skin.

Face Exfoliator // I currently have two exfoliators in my shower. I’ve been using this Double Action Smoothing Scrub by Patyka and just picked up this Regenerating Cleanser by Tata Harper at Follain. They’re both great! The Patyka scrub smells amazing as it has rose oil in its formula. The Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser has a bit more grit to it, which I prefer. It really scrubs my skin and rids it of any dry or flaky skin.

Body Exfoliator // I’m OBSESSED with the Follain Sugar & Shea Body Scrub! It is heavenly. I use it on my legs and arms, especially before shaving, to exfoliate any dead skin away. It’s also great if you use self tanner on the regular – it helps to remove all of the residue when the tan begins to fade.

Hair Mask // I always keep a hair mask in my shower for occasional use – I use it at most once a week. I received a travel set from EVOLVh (a clean hair care brand) a few weeks ago and have really been loving the mask.

Shaving Cream // Last but not least shaving cream. As I mentioned above, this product isn’t 100% clean. I’m still on the hunt for a clean shaving cream that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Recommendations welcome!

Switching to plain coconut oil for shaving was the first clean swap I made and still one of my favorites – highly recommend!
