A question I receive often, what’s the difference between Beautycounter’s Skin Twin, Tint Skin, and Dew Skin foundation products?! It’s confusing, I get it! Today I’m breaking down the difference between the three products and sharing my recommendation on which one is the best!

Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation

The Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation is a new-ish product from Beautycounter. It launched in Spring 2020. It will eventually replace the Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation. So if you’re on the fence between the two, I recommend grabbing the Skin Twin as the Tint Skin is being phased out.

Skin Twin was developed to act as a skincare and makeup product all in one! A unique feature is that it’s packed with hyaluronic acid to visibly plump the skin. Hyaluronic acid is known to visibly plump and smooth skin immediately and helps to minimize appearance of fine lines over time. 

Notable Ingredients

Hyaluronic acid. Skin Twin is certified cruelty free and an EWG (Environmental Working Group) verified product.

Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation

Tint Skin is Beautycounter’s original foundation. Like I mentioned above, it’s being replaced by Skin Twin. While it’s a great product, I recommend trying out Skin Twin since Tint Skin is being phased out. Prior to the Skin Twin launch, I used Tint Skin in shade Sand.

Notable Ingredients

Sodium hyaluronate, a natural moisture magnet, to promote smoother-looking skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Tint Skin is certified cruelty free.

Coverage + Benefits

Tint Skin is buildable and natural-looking, it leaves you in control of the coverage. For light coverage, apply with a foundation brush like this one; for medium coverage, apply with a beauty sponge like this one. This product is easy to layer and build upon for desired coverage.

Tint Skin is available in 10 shades.

Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer

The Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer is lightweight and provides light coverage. The plus to this product is that it has SPF 20 built in. If you’re looking for an easy, one-stop-shop product, this may be the one for you!

Notable Ingredients

SPF 20 mineral sunscreen. If you’re looking for a product with light coverage to act as a one-stop-shop, this is your product! It has SPF 20 in it. If you’re not someone who likes adding the extra step of applying daily face sunscreen, this product is a great way to get your daily SPF! Dew Skin is certified cruelty free.

As a side note, since I use Skin Twin, I apply this Daily Defense Sheer SPF 25 after my morning skincare routine, prior to applying makeup.

Coverage + Benefits

• Sheer coverage: Lightweight formula with sheer coverage for an effortlessly dewy finish.
• Safer SPF: SPF with non-nano zinc oxide, an effective mineral sunscreen active that has not been found to be harmful to the coral reefs.
• Glow-boosting ingredients: Infused with a triple complex of black currant seed oil, peony root extract, and vitamin C for increased appearance of firmness and radiance over time.

What do I use?

I currently use the Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation in shade Medium 340. It’s nice that it’s available in 18 shades, which makes it easy to find a perfect match! I like the coverage that it provides as well. It’s also packed with hyaluronic acid, which is essentially like applying another skincare product to my face. To tackle the lack of SPF that the Dew Skin provides, I simply apply this Daily Defense Sheer SPF 25 after my morning skincare routine, prior to applying makeup.
