Staycation at Washington, DC Hotel Hive

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of spending the weekend at Hotel Hive, D.C.’s first Micro Hotel!  What’s a micro hotel?!  It’s a hotel designed to provide guests with everything they need and nothing they don’t!  Upon arrival, I was greeted by the lovely staff in the unique lobby which houses Hive Bar and a D.C. favorite, &pizza.

As I made my way to my room, I quickly realized that Hotel Hive didn’t miss a beat when designing their space.  The elevator is adorned with glass walls and through the glass are brick walls that have been graffiti painted by local artists – a really cool touch.  Once I made it to my room I was blown away.  I think I said, “this is SOOO cute” one too many times …

I stayed in a King Loft room (check out all of the rooms here!), which had lofted ceilings with exposed beams and an exposed brick wall.  The king size bed was comfy and cozy, and there was plenty of room at the elongated desk to get a little work done before heading to the bar later in the afternoon.  Also, how fun is the saying on the wall?!  Each room has its own quirky touch!

The bathroom equally matched the room – All white, sleek, and clean with added amenities of full size bottles of all the necessary toiletries.

After settling into the room, I headed down to the lobby bar, Hive Bar, where they feature six hand-crafted cocktails made with local spirit brands and local brews straight from the District.  The jalapeño margarita was on point!  The decor in the bar is charming, rustic, and modern all wrapped up in one.  It’s the perfect place to unwind.  Attached to the lobby is an &pizza (my favorite local pizza chain in D.C.!).  You can order your favorite pie right from the bar or walk over to &pizza, order your own pie, and take it outside to enjoy on the front patio!

Along with the lobby bar, Hotel Hive boasts one of the best rooftop bars in D.C.!  Not only do they have a frozen rosé AND frozen margarita machine up top, the atmosphere can’t be beat, and the views are incredible.  Hotel Hive is located downtown in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood.  With that location, you can see the Watergate Hotel and Lincoln Memorial from the rooftop!

Before checking out, I had to make one more stop by Hive Bar – In the mornings the bar converts into a coffee bar serving local Vigilante coffee, and &pizza serves up three different breakfast pizzas!  I opted for a latte + the avocado toast pizza – both were delicious!

If you’re looking for a place to stay in Washington, D.C., Hotel Hive is the place to be!  Along with the unique experience that Hotel Hive provides, the rates are super reasonable and the location is perfect for exploring the city.  The hotel is located near the National Mall, Georgetown, George Washington University, and is a short walk to the Metro.

And if you’re local to the D.C. area, I highly recommend checking out Hive Bar and the rooftop bar for happy hour!
