Week In Review

Week In Review | Cobalt Chronicles | Washington DC | Style Blogger

Week one of 2018 is in the books!

I’ve been trying REALLY hard this week to stay in control of my schedule and keep that relaxed, on-top-of-everything vibe rolling from last week.  Taking a week off between Christmas and New Year’s Day was a God send.  I’ve never taken an entire week off from Cobalt Chronicles.  It was really nice to be able to check so many backend things off of my to-do list and even personal things that had been lingering for far too long (that living room closet that something falls out of every time it’s opened is finally organized and clean!).  I’ve definitely come to realize that it’s just not possible to have a completely stress free, balanced week while trying to do all the things (9-5 job, running Cobalt Chronicles full-time, running my contract business full-time, trying to exercise, and spending time with loved ones), but I’m doing my best to  make it all work so cheers to that and cheers to 2018 being the year that I figure out how to achieve that balance. 😉

Let’s jump into a little week in review, shall we?!

Monday

Having Monday off and actually staying in town was so nice!  Usually, anytime Michael and I have a long weekend, we jet off somewhere.  But we stayed put for New Year’s Eve and had a few friends over for a low key celebration, which made Monday even more enjoyable.

Here on the blog I shared five things I’m doing this month to jumpstart the new year.  I’ve loved seeing so many people commit to the Dry January challenge on social media!  It’s always easier to commit to a challenge when you know others are onboard too!  So far, so good on the five things I mentioned in the post!  SoulCycle twice this week, got in my long run for half-marathon training (the coldest weather I’ve ever run in!), no gel manicures, attended meditation class, and no alcohol!

Tuesday

With the start of the new year, I’m picking back up on the #TravelTuesday posts!  I’m excited to be sharing more travel posts (how to travel with points and miles + travel guides + packing tips etc.) this year!  On Tuesday I shared a little background on how I got home for the holidays.  Open note to Shreveport Regional Airport – PLEASE work on getting airlines to lower the price to fly in and out of your airport!

Wednesday

I tried to spread a little warm weather feels with Wednesday’s post (as I’m typing this the “feels like” temp outside is -4 degrees …).  I shared the maxi dress I’ve now worn to two warm-weather weddings + a glimpse of Michael and I’s trip to St. Croix last month!

Thursday

We woke up to snow on Thursday here in D.C.!  Although it wasn’t enough to have a full-on snow day, it was still pretty!  If it’s going to be freezing, it might as well snow, right?!  Thursday evening I hit up my first post-work SoulCycle class this year.  It’s always a struggle for me to head anywhere but home right after work.  It’s not that I don’t want to workout, it’s that by the time I workout, get home, shower, cook dinner, and eat dinner, I hardly have any time to squeeze in work on Cobalt Chronicles or my contract business.  I feel like I have to get straight to bed because of my early wake up calls – this is the balance issue mentioned above.  #workingonit

Weekend Plans

Another perk to Dry January is that there’s a built in excuse to be able to lay low and be super productive on the weekends.  I’m planning on doing just that over the next couple of days.  Michael and I are heading to a new-to-us spot tonight to celebrate a friend changing jobs (#mocktails), and I’m heading to Victoria‘s tomorrow for a girl’s brunch and to check out her new house!

Besides those plans, I’m excited to stay inside where it’s warm, build a few fires (and by that I mean, Michael will build fires), and get lots of work done over the weekend!

Other Happenings

I’m working on a reader survey that I’ll hopefully be sharing with y’all either next week or the next.  I’d love to get your feedback on what you’re enjoying here on the blog and what content you’re hoping to see this year!  I might also throw in an incentive for taking the survey like a giant box of skincare and beauty products … 🙂 Stay tuned!

I’ll leave you with a few sale finds that I stumbled upon this week!  Have a great weekend!  And stay warm!
