Happy Friday! I hope you had a great week! Earlier this week I asked, on Instagram, for suggestions on ways to switch up my Friday Week In Review posts and whether or not, in your opinion, the posts are repetitive. The consensus that I received was that you like the content in the posts, but sometimes the posts do get repetitive. Fair! That’s why I posed the question – since moving to Houston, I do feel like my weekly routine is a little less exciting than it was in DC. Maybe that’s just me, but I was feeling bored with the Week In Review posts. So today I’m switching it up a bit! If you have feedback or requests on what you’d like to see more of in my Friday posts, shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This Week’s Blog Posts
kate spade Dress via Rent The Runway Unlimited // I’ve been trying out RTR Unlimited this month, and so far, I’m loving it! I just placed my second order to hopefully nail down two dresses to wear for an upcoming wedding weekend.
How I Scored a Roundtrip Business Class Flight to Portugal for $54 // I mentioned that I snagged roundtrip business class tickets to Portugal for $54 each on Instagram and you requested a post on how I did it, so here you go! I went into a lot of detail in this blog post to show you exactly how you can travel for next to nothing! I mentioned this on Instagram, and I’ll say it again here, it does take research, patience, and time to book award travel. You definitely have to put in the time, but it’s totally worth it!
9 Cabi Favorites for Summer // My mom joined me in Wednesday’s blog post! We shared our top cabi picks for summer! So many cute pieces!
I had to improvise with my workouts a bit this week. I usually go to the gym with Michael in the mornings, but he was out of town for the majority of the week. So I incorporated a few at-home workouts to fill in the gaps.
- Monday: At home weight circuit and SoulCycle class
- Tuesday: At home weight circuit and short walk (rain cut it short)
- Wednesday: SoulActivate class (SoulCycle’s HIIT workout class)
- Thursday: 5 mile walk/run (ran 3.5, walked 1.5)
- Friday: Gym weight circuit
I’ve mentioned this before, but since I work from home by myself most days, I like to have a podcast on in the background. As a result, I listen to a lot of podcasts throughout the week. Most are business related, but some are just for fun. Here’s what I listened to this week!
- Bad On Paper: Makeup Lessons with Cassandra Garcia
- Ali On the Run Show: Jess Movold, Running & Strength Coach
- Work Party: How to Find and Tap Into Your Influence with Danielle Bernstein
- LIKEtoKNOW.it Influencer Radio: Cynthia Andrew | Simply Cyn
- A Drink with James: Converting Posts to Sales, Instagram Shopping, Designing Products
- 6 Figure Freelancer: Income Report: How I Made $30K+ in March
Around the Web
You know I’ve been on a #cleanswap kick lately – this article is a good read on why it’s important to take a look at the ingredients in your sunscreen.
June is a busy travel month for both Michael and I. I’m out of town every other weekend in June along with a bit of mid-week travel as well. This weekend we’re staying put in Houston. We have zero plans, but I’m sure we’ll end up at a brewery or trying out a new-to-us restaurant or two. I’m excited for morning walks to grab coffee and catching up on sleep!
Favorite Things This Week
Lululemon Biker Shorts // I shared these shorts on Instagram Stories earlier this week, but they’re worth sharing here too! It’s already a million degrees in Houston, and I quickly realized that my leggings weren’t going to cut it on weekend walks or midweek runs. I love the Lululemon Align pants so I decided to try out the shorter Align biker shorts. I really love them! They’re great for wearing around the house and great for workouts too! I wear the same size in these as I do in Lululemon leggings.
Beautycounter Mineral Sunscreen // I used the mineral mist last weekend while by the pool and applied the mineral lotion for my long outside run this week. If you’re looking to swap out your sunscreens for safe, clean sunscreen this summer, I highly recommend trying out Beautycounter’s! They offer a travel size in the mist and lotion – a great way to test them out!
Follain Refillable Hand Soap // Follain is my other go-to shop for clean products! I have two of their refillable hand soaps (one in my kitchen and one in the bathroom). The bottles are beautiful amber glass bottles that are refillable. If you happen to live near a Follain store, you can bring your bottles in to refill them. I ordered my refill online this week (the 38 oz refill option). I love both of their scents, but opted for the Lemongrass scent this go around!
Have a great weekend!
