Michael and I made it back to DC Thursday evening after taking a red eye flight on Wednesday night. I’m thankful it’s Friday and we have the weekend to catch up on sleep and organize our lives after being gone for nearly three weeks before starting a new week! I’m sharing a bit of what we did this week in Hawaii, but with that said, I’ll be sharing an entire recap post soon including everything we did and everywhere we went while on the island of Kauai. So stay tuned for that!

Monday

On Monday I shared the Ultimate Winter Reading List! I finished The Proposal while in Hawaii and started Educated. The Proposal was really cute, a great follow up to The Wedding Date. I’m really enjoying Educated so far – I keep having to remind myself that it’s a true story! It’s so interesting. Check out the full reading list here!

Michael and I woke up bright and early Monday morning to hop over to Poipu Bay Golf Course. Michael played, I rode (and drank lots of coffee). It was a gorgeous course and a fun way to start the day! Afterwards we headed to the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort to hang out for a bit and grab lunch. It’s a beautiful resort and where I’d recommend staying if you’re planning a trip to Kauai! We spent the rest of the day back at our resort – Marriott Kauai Resort.

Tuesday

Tuesday was our first full day hanging at our resort – we arrived last Wednesday night … LOL We rented a car for the first half of our trip so we spent every day heading out early to explore other parts of the island. We slept in, enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and laid on the beach all day with one break to grab açaí bowls from Aloha Aina Juice Cafe – SO GOOD! We also found a local gem for dinner that night – Hamura’s Saimin. If you’re a ramen fan, definitely check this spot out when you’re in Kauai!

Wednesday

We spent the day lounging on the beach before having to check out of our hotel. We took the 11:00pm flight out of Kauai to LAX that night. The flight from Kauai to LAX is a little over 5 hours. We landed at 6:30am local time on Thursday morning and had a two hour layover before taking off on our flight to DCA (another 5 hour flight).

Thursday

Thursday was a travel day. Honestly, I was dreading it, but it turned out to be not so bad. I slept most of the time on the red eye flight from Kauai to LAX. After a quick layover, we hopped on our flight home to DC. After grabbing a quick dinner and unpacking, I hit the sack early (around 8PM!) to try to combat the jet lag.

Weekend Plans

I’ll be playing catch up this weekend! And I’m hoping to squeeze in a few SoulCycle classes too. We have plans for a dinner date at one of our favorite DC restaurants, Little Serow, on Saturday night, which I’m really looking forward to! Otherwise, I’m planning on catching up on emails, getting started on a few Contracts for Creatives projects, and drafting an exciting post to go live on Monday – stay tuned!

Favorite Things This Week

Beautycounter Countermatch Moisturizer // My go-to moisturizer, Beautycounter’s Countermatch Moisturizer, has been a lifesaver these past couple of weeks! With being out in the sun every day for the past two weeks and then the red eye flight … my skin needed constant hydrating! I made sure to pack my Countermatch face lotion in my carry on bag so that I could apply it right before boarding our overnight flight and then again before boarding our cross-country flight back to DC!

Beautycounter Cleansing Balm // Another product that I can’t live without and has been my go-to over the past few weeks – Beautycounter’s Cleansing Balm! The balm goes on so easily and removes all of my makeup (eye makeup included!) with a few easy swipes of a cotton ball. It’s also really hydrating and great to use right before applying nighttime face oils (current favorite here!) and moisturizer.

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask // Last but not least, this fantastic leave-on mask! You can choose to wash it off after applying it and letting it work it’s magic for a bit, but with all of the sun, wind, and travel I’ve been putting my skin through lately, I choose to leave it on overnight. I applied it several times in The Bahamas, upon landing in Hawaii, and then again before boarding our overnight flight back home. It goes on pretty smooth and doesn’t have a traditional mask consistency. It’s super hydrating and leaves my skin feeling plumped and refreshed! It’s also a clean beauty product, which I’m a big fan of! Check out my full list of Clean Beauty Favorites here!
