Week In Review – DC Edition

Bluestone Lane

This week was a busy and fun one! I spent most of my week back in DC and had a blast catching up with friends, stopping by my favorite spots, and squeezing in a little work while I was in town!

Monday

On Monday I shared three ways to style a white button up shirt! I love that the button up is a classic piece that most people have in their closet, and there’s so many ways to style it!

I spent Monday working from home in Houston. Mostly wrapping up to-dos and packing for my trip. I got in a nice long walk Monday evening – I’m really trying to be better about walking during the day since my daily step count has dwindled so much since moving from DC to Houston.

Tuesday

On Tuesday I shared my favorite workout pieces for spring! I wear workout clothes almost every single day so it’s fun to pick out a few new pieces each season! And what better motivation to workout than new clothes?!

I hopped on an early flight from Houston Tuesday morning and headed to DC for the remainder of the week. I couldn’t have asked for better weather in DC. Upon arrival I met Serena for lunch at Bluestone Lane, which was so delish! Their avocado toast is my fave! I spent the day working from my favorite coffee shop, Philz (order the oatmeal cookie coffee, on ice, light cream, light sugar – it’s the BEST). That evening I met Laura, Kristyn, Monica, Katie, and Jenn (my DC blog squad) at Lucky Buns for dinner. It was such a gorgeous night so we snagged an outside table and enjoyed dinner al fresco!

Wednesday

When I arrived to my hotel on Tuesday I shot all of my skincare products that made the trip with me. I shared all of those products in Wednesday’s blog post – my travel skincare! I love having all of my staples with me when I travel as I try to stick as close to my normal morning and nighttime routines as much as possible.

The thing that sparked my trip to DC was a prior commitment to host a workshop for my Contracts for Creatives business as part of DC Wedding Week – a three-day conference for wedding vendors. On Wednesday morning I attended a brunch with The Knot as part of the conference. The setup was beautiful! I shared a few peeks at it over on my Insta Stories. After brunch I continued eating my way through the city and met Victoria at sweetgreen, one of my favorite salad spots, for lunch.

After a few afternoon meetings, I was able to squeeze in a SoulCycle class, which made me so happy! I love the vibe of the SoulCycle studios in DC. Definitely felt like being home.

Thursday

My Contracts for Creatives workshop – Contracts for Wedding Vendors – was Thursday morning. It went really well! I always love speaking with different creative entrepreneurs and small business owners about how to better protect their business with contracts.

I caught up with another friend, Jackie, over lunch, which was so nice! I had the best time catching up with all of my close friends in DC this week. Definitely good for the soul!

Thursday night I hosted an event at Shah & Shah, where both my engagement ring and my wedding band are from, which was so much fun! We drank rosé, tried on all the jewelry, and Jordan, from Shah & Shah, shared a bit about what to look for when shopping for diamonds and engagement rings specifically. The event was the launch of their Engagement 202 series. They’ll be doing more events on the topic, so definitely follow along with them on Instagram if you’re in the DC area to stay in the loop!

Michael was working in Pennsylvania all week and drove to DC to meet me and a group of our friends for dinner. We had a wonderful dinner at one of our favorite spots, Lupo Verde!

Weekend Plans

Michael and I caught a morning flight from DC to Dallas where we’ll be spending the weekend celebrating my cousin’s wedding! I’m excited to have lots of family time this weekend!

Favorite Things This Week

All of my favorite things this week have to do with travel!

Away Carry-On Bag // If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I’m an Away loyalist when it comes to luggage (see my reviews here, here, and here). I used my Bigger Carry On this week and was able to pack everything for my week in DC and weekend in Dallas!

Travel Skincare // My travel skincare takes the cake as I know my skin would be a disaster from eating all the things and running around town like a crazy person throughout the week if I didn’t stick to my normal skincare routine.

Travel Sleep Machine // I don’t go anywhere without my travel sleep machine! It’s small and is easy to pack. I plug it in on the nightstand and use it to drown out any hotel and/or street noise. It’s a must!

Have a great weekend!
