Week In Review – Heading to Oxford!

Week In Review - Heading to Oxford | Cobalt Chronicles | Washington, DC | Lifestyle Blogger

This was my third full week on my own (did you catch the big announcement this week?!), and I’m finding more of a groove in my schedule this week.  I’ll be sharing an updated morning routine and everyday schedule post once I get a better handle on what both of those look like now.  If you’re interested, here’s a post I did on my morning routine when I was still working a traditional 9-5 and here’s a post I did on my everyday schedule!

For now, let’s jump into this week’s Week In Review!

Monday

On Monday I shared my big news!  I quit my 9-5 job to focus on my businesses!  If you missed the post, check it out here!

I kicked off the week with a morning SoulCycle class + week 2 of my BBG workout (Monday was cardio and legs).  I’ve only recently become a morning workout person, and there’s really something great about knocking it out early in the AM!

If you’re not in DC and don’t follow hockey, the Washington team, the Capitals, are/were in the Stanley Cup finals!  Monday evening they played at home.  Michael and I went to the arena downtown where they were showing the game on big screen TVs outside of the arena.  It was SUCH a cool atmosphere!  And they won that night!  It has been really fun seeing and feeling the excitement in the city – it’s the first time in over 20 years that a Washington professional sports team (football, basketball, baseball, hockey) has been in a championship game/series!

Tuesday

Tuesday’s #CobaltChroniclesTravels post was a bit different, I shared one of my favorite brands and how Michael and I incorporated their new World Collection into our apartment to commemorate our engagement!  If you’re looking for a great gift to give, check out the post and catstudio’s pieces!

I had the opportunity to check out a new-to-me shop in Georgetown on Tuesday – The Phoenix.  It’s such a cute and cool shop filled with some of the best clothing brands (Lilla P, Eileen Fisher, Citizens of Humanity) and great skincare products and fun accessories.  Definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the area!

I also got to catch up with one of my favorite blogger friends, Tanvi, on Tuesday.  If you’re not following along with her yet, check her out!  She’s always on the go traveling somewhere fun and she also shares great lifestyle posts too!

I ended the day with a great SoulCycle class.

Wednesday

Wednesday morning was a fun one!  I was out the door bright and early for a run with Modus Hotels!  They offer a complimentary run around the monuments for their guests every week on Wednesday morning at 6:30 am.  The run starts at their Avenue Suites property.  It was an absolutely beautiful morning in the city, and the only people out were fellow runners and cyclists.  Seeing the monuments from this vantage point is SO worth the early alarm – definitely recommend heading down to the mall before 8 am during the week if you’re able – even just once!

Our running group was really fun too – the guests staying at the hotel and running with us were from Japan, Singapore and Taiwan!  I took over Modus’ Instagram Stories for the run.  You can still view the story in their Highlights under the “Run This City” highlight!

Here on the blog I had the opportunity to partner with one of my favorite local furniture stores to feature a few pieces from their showroom AND I partnered with them for a $500 GIVEAWAY!  Check out this Instagram post to see how to enter to win!

Thursday

I started my morning off on Thursday with another SoulCycle + BBG workout combo.  I knew I needed to get in a workout on Thursday since I’m treating myself to a fun three-day weekend (more below)!

After finishing up a few projects for the week, I ventured over to Old Town Alexandria, Virginia for an early dinner with one of my best college friends!  Her and her fam were in town visiting for the weekend (they actually lived here when I first moved to the city)!  Old Town is a bit of a trek from DC, but it’s such a cute area that I wish I visited more often.  It was well worth the trip!

Thursday night was EPIC.  Thursday afternoon on a group text, Laura, Monica, Kristyn, Katie and I realized none of us had set plans to watch the Caps game … so we impromptu met at a bar in the city to watch Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals … and WE WON!!  For the first time in 43 years … the Capitals took home the Cup!  It was such a fun night and definitely one I’ll remember forever!  The atmosphere was indescribable.  And now I can’t wait for the parade!  There’s always a parade, right?!

Weekend Plans

I’m having a little girls’ three-day-weekend this weekend!  As you’re reading this, I’m likely already in Memphis, TN!  I’m partnering with the Graduate hotel in Oxford, MS this weekend where I attended Ole Miss for undergrad.  For those of you that are unfamiliar, Oxford is only a 45 minute-ish drive from Memphis.

I’m meeting up with another one of my best college friends who lives in Memphis, and we’re making the drive to Oxford for the weekend!  I haven’t been back to Oxford in two years. I’m SOOOO excited to eat at all of my favorite spots and just walk around campus and the square.  Be sure to follow along on Instagram Stories as I’m sure I’ll be sharing a lot!

Favorite Things This Week

New Favorite Lace Cami // Y’all.  Have you noticed the resurgence of folks talking about Abercrombie & Fitch?!  If not, stick with me.  I’ve seen a lot of bloggers talking big game about the brand lately.  I finally bit the bullet when there was a sale two weeks ago.  I ordered this cami in three colors thinking I might keep one … I’m OBSESSED.  They are the PERFECT cami for wearing alone or layering underneath a cute blazer or long cardigan.  I’ve already worn the floral pint one and the black one.  I also have it in white.  It’s seriously THE BEST.  You need one (or three).  For sizing reference, A&F is now pretty true to size!  I have an XS in the camis, and they actually fit (unlike the old days when an XS might fit a 5 year old).

Floral Maxi Dress // I’m not stopping there with my new A&F obsession.  I also ordered this maxi dress and it is perfection.  I’ll be wearing it this weekend in Oxford for sure!  Again, it’s TTS and if you’re smaller chested like me, it’s seriously so perfect.  It has cutouts, which sometimes hit at a funny spot, but they’re so cute on this dress.  I really like that it has a slit up the side so it makes the maxi more breathable for summertime.

Tassel Earrings // Another find this week … this pair of tassel earrings.   They’re a steal at only $9.50!  They’re REAL cute and super lightweight too.  I love the gold and black since they go with everything!  They also come in bright pink and cream!
