Park Story Mosaic District

Happy Friday! I hope you had a great week!  We had our first snowfall of the season here in DC this week, and it actually snowed a lot more than I expected.  It was a pretty sight to wake up to on Thursday morning!

I’m heading home to Shreveport, Louisiana on Monday to spend Thanksgiving week with my family and friends.  As a result, this week was jam packed.  Let’s jump into this week’s Week In Review!

Monday

On Monday I shared a handful of Thanksgiving day outfit ideas!  Whether you’re heading to a football game (like me!), lunch with the family, a nice dinner, or lounging on the couch, I’ve got you covered!

Monday was a work-from-home day for me, so I spent most of my day working on upcoming blog projects and contract client work.  I ended my day with a SoulCycle class (my favorite way to end a Monday!).

Tuesday

My first Gift Guide went live on Tuesday!  This week I shared gift ideas for her – your mom, sister, best friend, mother-in-law etc.  I hope the guide helped you to start brainstorming on gift ideas for the holidays!  I’ll have a roundup of gifts for him next week so stay tuned!

The highlight of my day on Tuesday was the fact that I had a car, all day!  I rented a car through Getaround, which is essentially Airbnb for your car.  I wrote a post on it a while back – you can check it out here!  Renting a car for the day made more sense than Uber-ing everywhere – I had several meetings and appointments in Virginia. I haven’t owned a car in 5-ish years.  Most of the time I actually love not having a car.  But every once in a while it’s nice to be able to hop in a car of my own (even if it’s just for the day) and drive around town.

I joined the Tuesdays Together DC group for a fun volunteer opportunity.  We made cards and care packages for Operation Gratitude, an organization that puts together thank you packages for American service members – military, veterans, and first responders.  It was a fun way to spend a few hours during the day.  We ordered pizza, cranked the Christmas music, and had a great time decorating lots of cards!

Since I had a car, I ventured out to Mosaic District for a bit.  I tried out Caboose Commons, a really cool coffee shop, and stopped in my friend Meaghan’s shop, Park Story (pictured above).  Park Story is a semi-permanent boutique featuring womenswear, jewelry, accessories, and home goods by local and independent brands!  Meaghan is a clothing designer herself – her pieces are in the store along with one of my other favorite local designer, Mimi Miller’s pieces.  If you’re in the area, definitely check the shop out!

Wednesday

On Wednesday, I shared a recap of Michael and I’s recent trip to the Turks and Caicos plus a review of Ocean Club Resorts!  I’m ready to head back down to the Caribbean to warmer weather after scrolling through all of the photos!

Wednesday was another full work-from-home day capped off by SoulCycle.  I posted a photo on my Stories of what I was wearing to class and received lots of comments on my sports bra.  It’s the BEST sports bra – so cute, comfortable, and supportive.  It’s such a great Amazon find!  Linking it here for you in case you want to snag one for yourself – it’s only $17!

Thursday

Thursday was another running-around-town day, despite the snowy weather. I started the day by visiting LUNA boutique in Bethesda, Maryland.  It’s one of my favorite local clothing shops.   I’m partnering with AmEx next week on Instagram to promote their Shop Small Saturday initiative so I shot a few fun photos at LUNA for that campaign – stay tuned!  I’m also working on a blog post to share all of my favorite local shops!

After a quick lunch break back at home, I was off to Chinatown for a contract client meeting.  I ended up working there for the remainder of the afternoon.

Thursday evening I joined Sylvia at  & Other Stories in Georgetown for an event that she hosted to promote their new arrivals.  So many cute new items!  I was eyeing all of the cozy sweaters and velvet pieces.  A few of my favorites …

To cap off the night, I joined the Capital Cooperative for dinner.  The dinner was so much fun!  It was a “secret” dinner meaning I was invited and I knew there were going to be 10 other women guests, but I had no idea who would be there.  Capital Cooperative promotes entrepreneurial women and women leaders in the D.C. area so I knew it would be a great time.  I actually ended up knowing a few women at the dinner and met new friends too!  It was such a great night!

Weekend Plans

I’m so excited for Saturday!  My blogger friends (slash real life friends now!) and I have been planning a Virginia vineyards day forever, and it’s finally here!  Monica, Jenn, Katie, Laura, Kristyn, and I are making a day of it and heading out to a couple of vineyards outside of D.C., and I can’t wait!

Other than that, I’ll be working to knock out a lot of work to-dos before heading home to Louisiana on Monday!

Favorite Things This Week

BB Dakota Fuzzy Jacket c/o LUNA //

You NEED this jacket!  I snagged it this week and have already worn it!  It is so good!  It’s so warm and cozy.  Perfect for wearing out as a jacket, but it’s just the right thickness and weight that you don’t have to take it off when you’re inside!  I’m obsessed.  I’d recommend sizing down, I have an XS.

Getaround //

Like I mentioned above, I rented a car for the day on Tuesday through Getaround.  If you’ve always had a car, you might not understand the joys of having a car for the day. ha  But in all seriousness, I had the best day just being in my own space, listening to the radio, and running errands.  Getaround is only in a handful of cities right now, but if you’re in one of those cities, I highly recommend checking it out!  Here are the cities it’s currently in: San Francisco, Berkeley, Chicago, Oakland, Portland, Washington, D.C.  Read all about how it works here!

J.Crew x Sperry Snow Boots //

I snagged these boots 4 years ago, and they’re still in perfect condition!  They’re perfect for pulling out on days like Thursday when it was wet and snowy outside and I had a million errands to run.  They’re also great to have on hand for ski trips or weekend trips to the mountains!
