Over the summer, we embarked on a one-month European adventure. Yes, our three year old Weldon was with us too! Prague has been on our travel bucket list for a while. Michael and I actually had a trip booked to visit Prague, Budapest, and Vienna in 2020. We all know what happened that year. I was so excited that we were able to incorporate Prague into our summer trip!
Prague is such a beautiful, historic city, located in the Czech Republic. It’s a bit off the beaten path but still very much a tourist destination. There are historical sights that you must see while visiting Prague, like the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle. Prague offers tons of great restaurants plus a beer garden scene that rivals any other top tier beer city. Like many cities in Europe, Prague has a great public transportation system. Even with that being said, picking the right area to stay in while visiting is important so that you’re in the mix and close to all of the action. Today, I’m sharing my review of the Andaz Prague and whether or not I recommend you stay there or not.
As a little background, we’re a Hyatt family, through and through. Michael has Globalist status with Hyatt, which offers extra perks at Hyatt properties. In our experience, Hyatt properties are the creme de la creme of big hotel chains when it comes to point redemptions, quality of hotels, and customer service. During our month-long European trip, we stayed at six different Hyatt properties in five different cities. We booked all of our stays with points and used a combination of Michael’s suite upgrade certificates and points to upgrade our rooms at each property to a suite (more on that below).
Andaz Prague Review
The Andaz Prague is a stunning property housed in the iconic Sugar Palace! The decor is modern and funky. I specifically loved the restaurant and lounge area adorned with a fireplace located just off the check-in desk area where there is a complementary Nespresso machine available for guests to use all day (and night). The staff is friendly and accommodating, the front desk staff even lent us a US to Prague voltage converter during our stay. The bellmen are extra helpful, always assisting with our bags and stroller and made the check out process flow smoothly by gathering our bags and requesting an appropriately sized taxi for our ride to the airport.
Andaz Prague Location
The location of the Andaz Prague is top notch. The hotel is located within walking distance or a short tram ride to all of the main tourist attractions while being tucked away on a quiet square. It is located in the historical center of Prague and a short walk to Prague’s popular Old Town Square. There are several tram lines located right down the street from Andaz Prague, which made getting around to different areas of town super easy!
Another perk to the Andaz Prague location is that it is right across the street from the main train station. We took the train from Vienna to Prague and were able to walk from the train station strait to the hotel, even with all of our luggage and Weldon’s stroller. It made our arrival to Prague so easy!
Andaz Prague Rooms
Andaz Prague is a 5-star hotel for good reason. The hotel offers a variety of different rooms, including over ten different suite options. The room decor matches the overall modern, funky, art deco vibe of the rest of the hotel. I love the interior design of the spaces!
Andaz Prague King & Twin Rooms
The Andaz Prague offers an array of different room options including multiple different room configurations offering a mix of king beds and twin beds. All of the room options have city views. Each room comes with an in-room refrigerator that includes a complimentary minibar filled with non-alcoholic beverages and local snacks. There’s also a coffee maker with complimentary coffee and tea in each room. WiFi is included as well.
Andaz Prague Suites
The Andaz Prague offers a number of different suite options depending on your needs and the number of guests in your party – they have great options for families! We stayed in the Wintergarden Suite. It is a super spacious premium suite and includes a large open closet design right when you walk in the room, a king bed in an open floor plan that includes a living area as well. Double french doors divide this area and a beautiful dining area. The dining area includes a four person dining table situated in a bay-window-esque room overlooking Senovážné square- it made for the perfect work space for me while Weldon napped during the day!
Having the living area in the Wintergarden Suite made our stay even more enjoyable as there was plenty of room for us to set up Weldon’s bed in a separate space than ours. We travel with this blow up mattress and the Slumberpod for Weldon.
Like the regular rooms, the suites also have in-room refrigerators that include a complimentary minibar filed with non-alcoholic beverages and local snacks. There’s also a coffee maker with complimentary coffee and tea in each room. WiFi is included as well. We used our fridge to store complimentary bottles of water provided by the hotel – Michael’s Globalist status includes unlimited bottled water.
It’s always worth asking the front desk at check-in if there’s availability to have your room upgraded to a Suite, sometimes you get lucky!
Andaz Prague Booking Process
As I mentioned above, we are Hyatt loyalists. Michael has top tier Globalist status with Hyatt. We’ve always had outstanding experiences staying at Hyatt hotels and our stay at Andaz Prague was no different. Booking our room was simple. You can easily book rooms and/or suites with cash or World of Hyatt points online. If you need assistance booking your room at the Andaz Prague, you can call Hyatt for additional assistance. Booking the Andaz Prague with points is a great value! You can book a Junior Suite for under 50,000 points a night, while standard rooms can be booked for even less.
Andaz Prague Amenities
The Andaz Prague has an on-site spa and fitness center. It also has a beautiful restaurant and bar. There’s complimentary coffee all day and night in the lobby. In-room amenities include a complimentary mini-bar with non-alcoholic beverages and snacks, free WiFi, a coffee and tea maker with complimentary refills as needed, and USB and multi-use international sockets. If you book a suite, one-way and two-way complimentary airport transportation is included in your stay, depending on the suite booked.
Andaz Prague Spa
While I didn’t personally book any spa appointments, Michael used the sauna during his daily morning workouts during our stay and had nothing but good things to say about it! The Andaz Prague Spa offers a sauna, steam room, and a host of spa services. You can check out the full list of services here.
Andaz Prague Restaurant
Andaz Prague has an on-site restaurant, ZEM, as well as a beautiful and fun bar, MEZ bar. We stopped by the restaurant after dinner one night to grab ice cream. It’s a artfully decorated space and the service was wonderful. Reservations are not needed. It’s very casual, walk-ins are welcome.
The Andaz Prague offers a bountiful breakfast buffet that includes traditional American breakfast fare as well as Czech and European favorites. With Michael’s Globalist status, breakfast was included every morning of our stay. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and ordered off the a la carte menu as well.
Everything was delicious!
