A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of staying at the Avenue Suites Georgetown for a little staycation here in D.C.  Upon arrival, we were greeted by the lovely front desk staff who couldn’t have been friendlier.  Michael and I immediately noticed the oversized photos of Hollywood actors framed around the lobby – we played a guessing game with the front desk staff to see if we could name all of the actors … we couldn’t.  The framed actor photos are placed all throughout the hotel, a fun touch!

Avenue Suites Georgetown is located right on the edge of Georgetown, near Foggy Bottom.  It’s in a great location if you’re visiting the city from out of town.  It’s centrally located to all of the happening neighborhoods, it’s a short metro or uber ride to most all of the monuments and the White House, and it’s within walking distance to the shops and restaurants in Georgetown.

The lobby is cozy and traditional with a touch of modern, and it opens up into the onsite restaurant, La Piazza.  The star of the common space, the outdoor terrace, is straight through the La Piazza restaurant doors.

We arrived Friday evening after work so Michael and I took full advantage of the patio and immediately settled in for wine outside on the comfy couches.

On warmer nights, the patio is equipped with giant fans (yellow fans, might I add!), and for nights when it’s a little chillier Avenue Suites has fire pits set up to keep you cozy while still being able to enjoy the outdoor patio.  When we were there the temperature was just right so neither was in use.  But I definitely want to make another visit this fall when the weather cools down to take advantage of sitting by the fire pit!

We ordered dinner from La Piazza, and I’m not kidding when I say I’d go back just for the salad.  I know that sounds weird, but the arugula and shaved parmesan salad was to die for!

After enjoying the patio and the nice weather, we took full advantage of having a suite for the night (it was bigger than our apartment!).  At Avenue Suites Georgetown, as the name implies, the rooms are true suites with a full kitchen, a living space, a bedroom, and a bathroom.  A bottle of wine from La Piazza + a movie to relax after a busy week was the perfect way to end the day.

Even though we were only there for one night, the kitchen was nice to have!  I especially enjoyed having the fully stocked Keurig machine!  It was so nice to be able to make a *good* cup of coffee early in the morning to enjoy while I was getting ready for the day!

On Saturday mornings, Avenue Suites has partnered with Georgetown Yoga to offer free yoga classes on the outdoor terrace.  I really wanted to make the yoga class happen, but unfortunately the timing didn’t work out.  However, when I eventually made my way downstairs for breakfast and a latte (also from La Piazza), the class was still going on.  It looked like a great way to start the day!

Another neat fitness perk offered at Avenue Suites is what they refer to as “run this city.”  The hotel has a running concierge who leads group runs every Wednesday morning to notable Washington landmarks and monuments!  How cool is that?!  They also have an on-site fitness center if you need to squeeze in a quick workout during your stay.

If you’re looking for a place to stay in Washington, D.C., Avenue Suites Georgetown is a great place to be!  Along with the pleasant experience that Avenue Suites provides, the rates are super reasonable and the location is perfect for exploring the city.  As I mentioned above, the hotel is located near the National Mall, the White House, Georgetown, and is a short walk to the Metro.

If you’re local to the D.C. area, I highly recommend checking out the outdoor terrace for happy hour!
