I usually don’t recap media events that I attend here on the blog, but if you were following along on my Instagram Stories last week, you know this event deserves a recap!

Last Tuesday, my friends at TAA PR invited Michael and I to an event being held at Dulles Airport (near D.C.) by Brussels Airlines.  I had no idea what to expect.  I knew the event was celebrating Brussels Airlines’ offering direct flights to the Tomorrowland music festival in Belgium.  What I didn’t know was that the event coincided with an actual Brussels Airlines flight that was taking off from Dulles and flying non-stop to Brussels to bring Tomorrowland festival-goers to the festival!

What Is Tomorrowland?

I had heard of Tomorrowland, but didn’t know much about it.  To fill you in, it’s the largest electronic dance music festival in the world, and arguably the largest music festival in the world, period.  It spans over two weekends and tickets sell out in a matter of minutes.  It’s held in Boom, Belgium (yes, that’s a real town).

Brussels Airlines Flights to Tomorrowland

For the past 4 years, Brussels Airlines has been THE airline to fly to Tomorrowland.  It even has party flights on routes flying to Brussels during the festival dates.  If you’re not lucky enough to score tickets on one of the party flights, you might be lucky enough to be on a flight that, instead, has a gate party to get you pumped for the festival!  That’s what we took part in at Dulles!

When we arrived at the gate, there was a live DJ, a bartender preparing delicious mocktails, and the entire gate was decorated with festival swag – flower crowns, glow sticks, and sunglasses.

The entire crew, including the pilots and flight attendants, arrived shortly after we did.  They were incredible!  I’m not sure if they were aware that the gate party was happening, but they totally played into it.  The crew got everyone so excited about hopping on the Brussels Airlines flight!

The BEST part of the whole experience was that the passengers had NO clue what they were about to walk into.  It took a bit of coordination on the airport’s side as the passengers were arriving from multiple connecting flights to get on this particular flight to Brussels.  When the passengers walked up to the gate and saw the Brussels Airlines flight crew decked out in festival gear, the live DJ, and the bartender, their jaws dropped!  It was amazing to see.

Another party perk, the folks at Dulles let Michael and I walk down on the tarmac to see the Brussels Airlines plane up close!  It was one of the coolest things ever!

Other Brussels Airlines U.S. Based Flights to Keep In Mind

If you’re not familiar with Brussels Airlines, they fly out of two U.S. airports, Dulles (IAD) and JFK.  Brussels Airlines offers direct flights from those U.S. airports to Brussels.

We had such a fun time at the event and hope to fly Brussels Airlines soon!
