Washington, DC Home Tour

Washington DC Home Tour | Cobalt Chronicles | Style Blogger | Cobalt Chronicles Home Tour

It’s finally here – a mini home tour! You may remember back in April when I mentioned that Michael and I were moving. We moved into our new apartment in May, and I really love it! Apartment hunting in DC can be daunting, so when we stumbled upon this bright, white, open concept space, I knew it was the one! We had a look at a beautiful house on the Innisfil waterfront but decided DC would be a better location for us all. With the move I got rid of a ton of dark furniture that I had from the early law school days (think huge black leather couch – it was so incredibly comfortable, but so ugly). I wanted to create a light and airy space to make the apartment feel really open as well as inviting. We redecorated the place and got some new stairs from here, the decor is amazing and I’m completely in love with it!

Just so you know what we’re working with, our entire apartment is around 750 sq. ft. So with that in mind and the fact that the living room is very narrow, I really had to think about what pieces would fit nicely in the space without making it seem cramped. This couch fit the bill perfectly! Along with this coffee table that’s both narrow and very minimalistic. You’ll notice that the majority of the pieces that I invested in for this apartment are very budget friendly. With any luck, I won’t always live in a 750 sq. ft. space so I didn’t want to splurge too much on pieces to fit this specific space.

With the new apartment I also got a little crafty and pulled a few Ikea hacks. I painted these shelving units and my bar cart (exact one n/a online, but here’s a similar one) gold, and I think they turned out pretty good! (I’m pretty much the worst DIYer ever so if I can do this, you definitely can!) Tip: If you’re planning on doing this, buy the white shelving units as they are MUCH easier to cover with the gold paint than the black units.

One of my favorite additions to the apartment has to be my ghost chairs! They fit perfectly in the space by not taking up too much room but still look amazing!

Enjoy the tour! I’ve linked (mostly) everything at the end of the post, but definitely let me know if you have any questions about any of the pieces in my home! I ordered almost everything online so I can attest to the shipping of all of the items as well – just ask if you have any questions!

*Special thanks to my friend Tammy of Jasmina Design for providing all of the beautiful flowers that are pictured throughout the apartment!

Your style is so clean and classic. Love seeing the JLB cookbook – “Tables of Content” is one of my favorites. It’s a beautiful home.

Thanks so much Erica! The couch is the perfect size for a small space! And the string art just adds a little touch of home. =)

I’ve found the two apartments that I’ve lived in, in DC, through Craigslist. If you’ll shoot me an email, I’m more than happy to share my thoughts on the neighborhoods around the DC area! [email protected]

Good luck with the apartment search!

Thanks Meredith! It was so easy and made SUCH a huge difference! Like I said, I’m sure the white shelving unit would be even easier than the black ones that I have.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
