It’s pretty wild that today is Weldon’s due date. I feel like he’s been here with us forever! And to think he was supposed to still be inside of me until today is just crazy. Even though Weldon surprised us at 27 weeks and life looks a lot different today than I thought February 22nd would look like, I’m thankful for three extra months with Weldon and three extra months of newborn snuggles.
As soon as my bump “popped” I started taking bi-weekly bump photos with the intention of documenting my growing bump up to today! I ended up with 4 bump pics … 16 weeks, 18 weeks, 22 weeks, and 25 weeks. Weldon made his debut before Michael and I could get back home from Shreveport from our Thanksgiving trip (first to see Michael’s family in Baton Rouge and then to Shreveport to see mine).
Even though I went into labor almost three months ago, on November 26th, I feel like I’m just now starting to feel all the feels from what we’ve gone through over the past few months. From the morning he was born, I’ve been in mom mode – tackling each day as it has come and taking each new hurdle with stride. There are so many layers to Weldon’s early arrival that I’m still in the midst of unpacking. As Michael and I eventually make our way home, and settle into our roles as a new family of three, I’m sure I’ll have a lot more thoughts to share.
For now, we’re enjoying our time at my parents house in Shreveport while Weldon hits all of his follow up appointments after his NICU discharge. It’s remarkable to look back at photos from three short months ago and see all of the progress our little guy has made!
