We officially have a three year old! Weldon LOVES all things construction so the theme for this year’s party was a no brainer … a three year old construction birthday party! We had a small party with family and friends in our backyard and it was perfect.
Three Year Old Construction Birthday Party
I used Canva to make his adorable “Can You Dig It?!” invitations (see below). I have Canva Pro, but I’m pretty sure you can search the free version of Canva for different invitation themes. The invitation was super easy to customize in Canva (I prefer the desktop version). I sent the invitation digitally to our family and friends.
For entertainment for Weldon and the kids at the construction themed party, I had a few different things set up. I used our own bounce house. If you have a toddler and don’t own one of these, do yourself a favor and get one! We use it ALL THE TIME! It’s so easy to setup and take down and Weldon loves it. We have the “Junior” and it’s totally big enough for a handful of toddlers!
Another activity, and by far the star of the party … I filled our blow up swimming pool with deer corn (I found it at a local garden and feed store – Jefferson Feed) and put tons of construction trucks in it for the kids to play with (I bought this dump truck, excavator, bulldozer, trencher, and this set of mini trucks). Everyone LOVED this activity! And Weldon still plays with all of the construction trucks too!
I had two long tables set up. One regular size table (this one) for the cake and the food. And one kid table (this one) with small chairs for the kids to use. I borrowed the table and most of the chairs from a friend, they were perfect!
I found these cute table runners and used them on both tables. At the kids’ table, I hung these fun construction safety vests on each chair and added construction hats to the table. They had so much fun dressing up like construction workers! These also made great party favors.
For table decorations, I grabbed this cute table topper set and this set of orange construction cones. We used a drill to make holes in the cones to insert the table topper sets (much easier than it sounds!). I added this construction themed “happy birthday” sign to the table and used these cupcake toppers for extra decorations. I also ordered this 3D number 3 with Weldon’s name on it. It’s really cute, and added a fun touch, but it was smaller than I was expecting and it was damaged during shipping.
Believe it or not, Weldon’s cake and cupcakes are from a local grocery store, Rouses! They knocked the cake out of the park (they even added the trucks on top of the cake!).
Lastly, his precious personalized shirt! It turned out so cute! We had such a fun morning celebrating our three year old!
