A little change up with the Friday Favorites this week … With the start of the new year, everyone has fitness on the brain, and I’m no exception. You may remember way back when I signed up for the Rock ‘n’ Roll half-marathon. Well the race is set for March 12th so training just started this week. I made it through week one! I’ve run a few half-marathons and one full marathon, but I haven’t done a long distance race in quite sometime so I’m excited to get back into running.
When running or really working out at all, in my opinion, it’s imperative to have the right gear! Not only does having legit workout clothes help to motivate me to want to go get a sweat in, there’s nothing more annoying than having to constantly readjust ill fitting workout clothes (I’ve bought my fair share of cheap leggings that have to constantly be pulled up! Ugh!). So today I wanted to share a few of my favorite workout items with you!
1. Zella Leggings: So as a disclaimer, I don’t own a pair of these just yet, BUT I’ve seen so many amazing reviews that I’m definitely going to get a pair soon! They are a great price point and come in a variety of lengths and colors.
2. Nike Tank: No matter how chilly it is outside I always have a tank as my base layer. I usually get hot and end up in it by the end of my workout/run. I’m a big fan of these Nike tanks. Light weight and super cute.
3. Splits 59: My favorite tights. Hands down. I own this exact pair as well as several pairs of the cropped version. The longer pair is slightly thicker and great for a chilly outdoor run. I wear the cropped pair for yoga, running, lounging, you name it.
4. Camelbak: My go-to everyday water bottle. I’ve had mine for almost ten years, and it’s still going strong.
5. North Face Headband: Life saver in the cold weather! This little guy keeps my ears warm without adding the extra heat of a full on hat covering my entire head. And bonus – it keeps my hair out of my face.
6. Ankle Socks: I only wear black ankle socks, but I like that these have a little fun color to them! P.S. There are other bright colored options as well.
7. Nike Lunar Tempos: My current running shoes. Love them.
8. Nike Pullover: I usually layer this top over my tank. It comes in tons of colors and is a great staple to have in your workout drawer.
9. North Face Gloves: A must have in the winter. This pair is light enough that your hands won’t be sweating once you start to, and they also have the tech fingers so you can change the tunes on your iPhone while working out without having to take the gloves off!
One more tool that I find super helpful is the MapMyFitness app. It’s great. I have it on my iPhone and not only does it map your distance and time, it also talks to you during your run, letting you know your distance and pace.
Let me know if you have any other workout items/running gear that I need to check out! And definitely let me know if you have any questions at all!
Happy Friday!
Please consider running in our Minden Runs for St. Jude Race this year!

Hi Danita!
Unfortunately I won’t be in town that weekend. Do y’all have a way for “virtual” runners to sign up for the race?
Thank you so much for visiting Cobalt Chronicles, and thanks so much for the kind words!
Best,
