My Stay at Pod DC Hotel!

Pod DC Hotel | Cobalt Chronicles | Washington, DC | Travel Blogger

Welcome to Pod DC!  What better welcome than this gorgeous palm print, velvet couch!  It’s a great piece that sits right in the entry way of the hotel and really speaks a lot about the property itself.  Pod DC is fun, quirky, and chic all at the same time!

I’m excited to share a recap of my stay at Pod DC Hotel with you!

Prime Location

When the Modus Hotels team reached out and asked if Michael and I would like to check out the Pod DC right after our engagement as a way to celebrate with a little staycation, I jumped at the chance.  I had heard amazing things about the hotel and all it has to offer.

If you’re visiting DC, it’s in a prime location!  The perfect spot to stay for venturing out to see all of the tourist attractions while at the same time being located close to several cool neighborhoods with lots of local restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance.  And the hotel sits steps away from the famed Chinatown Arch!

The Rooms

Pod DC is a micro-hotel.  What does that mean?  It means that the rooms are small; they include everything you need and nothing you don’t.  The idea is that Pod DC is meant for travelers who want chic accommodations but hate to pay for the price of a large hotel room when they’ll be spending the majority of their stay out and about exploring the city.  Our room was perfect!   It included a queen size bed, two bedside tables, extra storage shelves near the TV, and a really spacious bathroom.

The Restaurants

One of the main perks of Pod DC is the on-site restaurant scene.  The restaurants are what attract even DC locals to this property!

Coffee Bar

There’s an adorable coffee shop adjacent to the lobby that serves up delicious lattes and donuts from District Donut!  It’s the perfect spot to grab a quick jolt of fuel before heading out for the day!

Crimson Diner

Crimson Diner is also located in the lobby.  It’s open from morning to late at night and serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  It also has an impressive bar lining one side of the restaurant and an open kitchen where you can see the chefs hard at work.

It’s a great place to grab a meal, post up with your laptop to get a bit of work done while enjoying a coffee, or wind down with a cocktail after a long day.

We enjoyed a big Saturday morning breakfast at Crimson Diner, and it didn’t disappoint!

Crimson Whiskey Bar

My favorite spot on the Pod DC Hotel property – Crimson Whiskey Bar!  The Whiskey Bar is located downstairs in a massive space where the main feature is the ceiling height display of whiskeys and liquors acting as the backdrop of the entire bar.  Whiskey Bar has tons of seating available from cozy booths and an enormously long bar lined with stools to more lounge inspired corners for groups to gather in.

Michael and I enjoyed a happy hour cocktail at Whiskey Bar before heading up to the Crimson View rooftop bar for a pre-dinner cocktail.  We enjoyed the atmosphere at Whiskey Bar so much that we ended up returning for dinner!  We enjoyed a shrimp appetizer and burgers.  The food was outstanding!

If you’re visiting DC or a local, you NEED to put Whiskey Bar on your happy hour list!

Crimson View

Crimson View is Pod DC Hotel’s rooftop bar.  We were there on a beautiful Friday evening, and it was packed!  Packed, but still a few open spots to snag a seat.  As the name implies, the views up top are incredible.  You can see most of Penn Quarter and Chinatown plus an amazing view of the Washington Monument.
