Updated Morning Routine: Houston

Updated Morning Routine | Cobalt Chronicles | Houston Lifestyle Blogger

Now that I’ve been in Houston a little over a month, I’m starting to really settle into my new routine. I shared my work-from-home morning routine when living in DC so I thought it would be fun to share an updated version with you today! Plus you can see a little sneak peek of Michael and I’s new place in the photos!

My Updated Morning Routine

5:00AM – 5:30AM

I wake up everyday between 5:00 and 5:30. I head straight to the kitchen to make a tall glass of water and my first cup of coffee. I’ve had the same Nespresso machine for a few years now, and I can’t live without it!

5:30AM – 7:30AM

I spend the first two hours of my day working on blog posts and answering emails that I didn’t get to from the previous day. Usually, I’m putting final touches on that day’s blog post and scheduling corresponding social media posts to promote and share the blog post.

I try to get a new blog post up every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday here on Cobalt Chronicles and an educational blog post goes live on my Contracts for Creatives site every Thursday. If I’m bogged down with contract client work, I’ll skip the Tuesday blog post here on Cobalt Chronicles and work on client projects instead.

Somewhere around 7:15 I throw on clothes for the day and get ready to head out the door.

7:30AM – 8:00AM

Michael and I didn’t have a car while living in DC. When we moved to Houston, where we most definitely need a car, we decided to opt to only get one for now. With that said, I drop Michael off at work every morning. His office is downtown, which is only a 10-15 minute drive from our house. All in it takes me about 30 minutes roundtrip to drop him and get back home.

8:00AM – 9:00AM

When I arrive back home from dropping Michael, I spend a bit of time getting ready for the day. Depending on whether I’ll be working from home most of the day or if I have meetings outside of the house, I’ll either apply minimal makeup or get fully dressed (hair, makeup etc.).

I also make another cup of coffee during this time. After I’m dressed and ready for the day, I make my way to my desk and catch up on news articles and a few of my favorite blogs. I really enjoy keeping up with my favorite bloggers on a daily basis!

9:00AM – 11:00AM

By 9:00, I’m ready to dive into the day’s work. I’m the most productive in the mornings (if you couldn’t tell by my early wakeup call). Between 9:00 and 11:00, I try to knock out the biggest task for the day, whether that be drafting a contract for a Contracts for Creatives client or working on an upcoming blog collaboration – coming up with a concept, styling an area of my home for photos, drafting copy, etc.

11:00AM – 12:00PM

I shared this recently on Instagram Stories, but after taking a break from intermittent fasting after our wedding, I hopped back on the train at the beginning of March. My fast is usually from 8:00PM – 12:00PM. With that said, I’m usually a bit distracted the hour between 11:00 and noon because I’m looking forward to breaking my fast and eating lunch! I try to delegate a few tasks to this hour that don’t require much thought like drafting my Instagram post for that night or scheduling social media posts.

And that’s my morning! I always love reading about how others start their day. I hope you enjoyed a peek into mine!

I seriously need to channel some of your early morning vibes! I’ve been getting up at 7 this week and that can be a struggle. But, those early morning hours, before anyone else is up, REALLY are some of the most productive!

Yes, totally agree! That’s why I still get up so early even though I work from home now. I just love the quiet time. No incoming texts, emails, etc. A lot fewer distractions.
