I’m fascinated by morning routines. I love reading how others start their day. I’m due to share an updated morning routine post as I haven’t shared an updated blog post since I shared my morning routine while living in Houston (before becoming a mother!). As I re-read the post while putting together today’s post, it’s funny to see how parts of my morning are so different now, but funny enough, my coffee essentials have pretty much stayed the same!
An essential part of my morning routine is my coffee. My quiet coffee time in the morning is arguably one of my favorite times of the entire day. I generally have two cups of coffee a day. My first cup around 6:00AM and my second cup around 9:00AM. This may seem like a very niche topic, but I consistently receive DMs regarding my coffee machine, milk frother, and my morning coffee. So I thought I’d share my morning coffee essentials with you!
Morning Coffee Essentials
Nespresso Vertuo Machine // Michael and I received our Nespresso machine as a Christmas gift 7ish years ago. It’s amazing, I love it, and I’ll never go back to another coffee machine brand again. I love the Vertuo machine because it makes both espresso drinks and full size cups of coffee. You can purchase both types of pods directly from Nespresso’s website. The Nespresso machine makes the frothiest coffee! With no milk added, there’s always a delicious foam on top. And the coffee is GOOD.
If you’re in the market for a new machine, I highly recommend this one.
Milk Frother // I originally had the Nespresso milk frother that’s available bundled with the Vertuo machine. The inside started to chip (after 7 years, it had a good run!), so I opted to replace it with this less expensive milk frother. I’ve had it for roughly six months at the time of publishing this post, and so far, it’s been great! It froths my milk perfectly, and while I prefer the hot setting, you can also set the frother to froth on cold too (perhaps for an iced coffee?).
My Coffee // My favorite Vertuo pods are the Sweet Vanilla and Golden Carmel flavors. I add a bit of Califia almond milk creamer to my coffee (after steaming it in my frother). My current favorite Califia combination is using the Califia Unsweetened Better Half and a splash of the Califia French Vanilla Creamer. Califia is my favorite non-dairy creamer brand. I love their almond, coconut, and oak milks and creamers. Unpopular opinion, but I’m not a NutPods fan, their products leave the chalkiest taste in my coffee. But to each their own!
Lastly, for my second cup of coffee, I add 1 scoop of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides. It dissolves really well into the Nespresso coffee. I’m not sure if it’s because of the extra froth or what, but I can’t taste the powder once it’s mixed in.
