Where to Stay In Scottsdale, AZ: The Phoenician Resort

Thank you to Visit Phoenix, Visit Mesa, and The Phoenician for hosting me!

I’m excited to share my review of The Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona with you today! You may recall that I visited Arizona in February. I was hosted by Visit Mesa and Visit Phoenix on a press trip, and there was a lot packed into our Thursday-Sunday trip. With that said, I was only able to stay at The Phoenician for one night of the trip, but man oh man I wish I could have stayed there for an entire week! The property is incredible!

Getting There

The Phoenician is located in Scottsdale, Arizona. The resort is only a 15-20 minute drive from the main airport, PHX. I was still living in DC at the time I visited, and my flight was an easy direct flight on Southwest from Baltimore.

You’ll know you’re in for a treat immediately upon arrival at The Phoenician. The entry way is beautifully landscaped and the lobby of the resort is grand with a sweeping panoramic view of multiple terraces and the pool area.

The Phoenician – The Rooms

The Phoenician recently underwent a massive renovation. In October 2017 all of the guest rooms were fully renovated and updated. There are multiple lodging options at The Phoenician. While I stayed in one of their traditional guest rooms, there are also luxury suites and The Canyon Suites available too. The Canyon Suites are part of a boutique hotel experience located on property at The Phoenician. They offer more of a residential feel while staying at the resort.

Not only was the room itself spacious (see photos below), my favorite part of my room was by far the bathroom. With the renovations, the bathrooms are super modern and decked out with Byredo bath and body products. I indulged in a luxurious bath during my stay. Something I rarely do, but the giant soaking tub and bath salts were calling my name after glamping in Queen Creek, exploring Phoenix, and before heading out on our hot air balloon adventure the next day.

The Phoenician – The Property

Pool Complex //

It was a bit chilly when I visited in February, which is unusual for Scottsdale/Phoenix, so I didn’t get to take advantage of the amazing pool complex at The Phoenician. But I did take in the views! The pool complex was also part of the recent extensive renovation of the property.

The pool area is beautiful with multiple areas to perch up and sun bathe for the day. There’s a kid-friendly area with a suspension bridge and tree house complete with a swaying bridge and sails. In the same area there’s splash pad with spray-guns, falling buckets of water, and shooting water spouts.

If you’re visiting the resort without kids, don’t worry, there’s also an adults only area near the mother of pearl pool. There’s also a walk-up restaurant and bar in the pool complex for easy access to pool-side cocktails.

The Spa //

The Phoenician Spa opened in March 2018, and it is incredible! The spa itself is a three-story facility with a roof-top pool. In addition to traditional spa services, there’s a Drybar on-site and a full–service nail salon. There’s also a tranquility suite where you can relax for a few hours in the calming space.

Fitness //

The Phoenician is located at the base of Camelback Mountain. Not only is hiking a great way to get your fitness on while staying at the resort, The Phoenician offers numerous options for staying fit and enjoying the Sonoran Desert while visiting the resort.

The Athletic Club is a two-story fitness center that also includes a game room furnished with pool tables, foosball tables, a lounge area and more.

Tennis is also a popular activity at The Phoenician. The tennis facility was also part of the recent renovation. Tennis lessons are available upon request.

Last but not least, The Phoenician totally redesigned its golf course in 2018. If golf is your thing, definitely catch a round on the beautifully designed 18-hole course.

Restaurants & Bars //

There are multiple dining options on property at The Phoenician. Even though I was only there for one night, I was able to check out three of the different options! The Thirsty Camel Lounge is the bar you’ll see upon entering the resort through the main lobby. It has spectacular panoramic views of the pool and the desert beyond the property. The lounge offers tons of indoor seating as well as a beautifully designed and spacious patio area.

For dinner, I was treated to an amazing experience at Mowry & Cotton. The atmosphere was perfect for my last night of the trip, the service was outstanding, and the food was fantastic.

Before heading out the next morning, I stopped by The Marketplace for coffee, fruit, and a bagel. It’s a great spot to grab something to go or hang out for a bit to sip on your morning joe.

Overall Thoughts

If you’re looking for a resort that has it all, The Phoenician is your spot. I’m already looking forward to my next trip, which will undoubtably be a longer stay! The Phoenician is a great spot for a couples getaway, a girls weekend, or a family vacation. The resort really does have so much to offer!
