It’s hard to believe the first quarter of 2019 is behind us! With a whirlwind January and February, March was a welcomed treat. We officially moved into our new place in The Heights in Houston on March 1st.

Settling in Houston

We’ve been in Houston for exactly one month! I’ve been sharing peeks at our house on Instagram Stories and plan on doing full posts on each room once I get a few more items in place. As you can imagine, we have a lot more space than we did in DC so it’s taking a bit of time to get everything organized.

A few of my favorite additions so far are this coffee table/ottoman and this rug for the living room, and this desk and garment rack for my office. I spend the most time in both of those rooms so it’s nice to have them both coming together nicely!

Travel

November, December, January, and February were slammed with travel. I knew those would be crazy busy months so I was really looking forward to a calm, travel-free month in March. I ended up going to Shreveport (my hometown) twice this month, but it’s only a 3.5 hour drive. This is one of the perks about our move to Houston! We’re a short drive to both of our families.

Michael and I went to Shreveport the first weekend we moved to purchase a car (haven’t had one of those in 5 years!) and catch the Highland Parade (my favorite Shreveport Mardi Gras parade!). I drove back to Shreveport to celebrate my mom’s birthday towards the end of the month. Being able to leave Houston early in the morning and be home by lunch is quite the luxury!

Wellness Goals

The lack of travel this month allowed me to really get back into my workout routine and find a new groove in Houston. Thankfully, there’s both SoulCycle and YogaWorks here (my two go-to spots in DC). I’ve been getting in two SoulCycle rides and two yoga classes a week since moving. My new favorite class is Hot Sonic 60 at YogaWorks. It’s a 60 minute hot yoga class set to upbeat music. The room temperature hovers around 100 degrees with up to 60% humidity for the entire class. I sweat more in that class than I’ve ever sweat in a workout class!

I’ve been sharing a lot more clean beauty products on my Instagram Stories lately. Have you checked out my Clean Beauty Favorites page? It includes all of my favorite clean beauty products in one place! I also put together a free, downloadable PDF that includes links to all of the products plus a link to a beauty quiz that helps to determine what clean beauty products are right for you! Get a copy of the PDF when you sign up for my newsletter!

Along with switching out my skincare and makeup products to cleaner, safer products, I’m making the switch with our household products as well. With the move, we’re almost fresh out of cleaning supplies. I’m planning on re-stocking with less harsh cleaning supplies this month. I’ll keep you posted and provide an update in April’s recap post!

A look Ahead to April

The first half of April is looking to pan out much like March. At the end of April I’m heading to DC to host a workshop at DC Wedding Week for my Contracts for Creatives business, which I’m really excited about! I’ll be closing out the month by flying straight from DC to Dallas for a weekend with my family to celebrate one of my cousins getting married.

Cheers to the month ahead!
