April oddly feels like it flew by, even though we were at home the entire month! Michael I started our quarantine on March 13th. March crept by, but I feel like we settled into somewhat of an at-home routine in April. This month will definitely be an odd one to look back on as time moves forward. The month that no one did anything, saw anyone, or went anywhere – April 2020.

This blog post from earlier in the month sums up what I’ve been doing over the past (almost) two months to keep me sane at home – 10 Things Keeping Me Sane During Quarantine.

I know each day is challenging in its own way for each one of us. I’m incredibly grateful and privileged to be able to have a house to shelter in place, a husband to spend time with, a job that I’m able to keep working, and my health. I mentioned this last month, but it can’t be said enough, THANK YOU to all of the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, aids, cleaning crews, and all of the other folks working shifts at the hospitals around the country right now. Also a huge thank you to the grocery store and pharmacy staff and to the delivery folks too!

On a lighter note, let’s take a look back at April and chat about a few lighter topics … the blog posts you loved, the items you clicked on the most, and more! If you’re interested in past Monthly Recaps, you can check them out here!

Before we jump in, I did want to remind you of one promo that ends tomorrow – Beautycounter is offering 20% off sitewide to any new customers. You simply have to sign up for their email list! Travel

April Recap | Cobalt Chronicles | Houston Style Blogger

The extent of our travel this month. In the car to pickup online grocery orders.

This is the first month since I’ve been doing these monthly recaps that I haven’t traveled anywhere. Sadly, I think this might be the case for the next couple of months, hopefully not longer. I’m so looking forward to the first weekend we’re able to get away and head out of town!

I’m assuming road trips are going to be how we travel at first. I’m looking forward to trips back home to Shreveport and perhaps a weekend away in Texas Hill Country – I’ve been really wanting to check out Fredericksburg and its wineries!

Wellness

Wellness is always something I’m working on and these posts are an easy way to not only keep myself accountable, but hopefully a place to share a bit of inspiration and a dose of reality as well.

And what better time to practice wellness!

My wellness practices over the past few weeks have included sticking with a daily workout routine – Michael and I have improvised and have been doing at-home workouts in our empty dining room (knew that room would come in handy at some point!). I shared an entire post on our workouts and at home workout gear – My At Home Workouts & At Home Workout Gear.

I’ve been saving our workouts to a highlight on my Instagram page if you’re looking for some inspiration. We’ve been doing YogaWorks yoga classes and free online Orange Theory classes!

We’ve also been going on daily walks. On the weekends, we’ve been going for longer walks and spending as much time as possible outside on our deck.

In addition to keeping up with workouts, moving on a daily basis, and prioritizing getting fresh air as much as possible, I’ve made my skincare routine a priority too. Might as well use all of these makeup free days to our advantage! My morning skincare routine includes these four products: Vitamin C Serum, Eye Cream, Antioxidant Soft Cream Moisturizer, and Tinted Matte SPF. I use my ice roller after my vitamin c serum, eye cream, and moisturizer but before my SPF. Full review of my ice roller here: How I Use My Amazon Ice Roller to De Puff My Face

A Look Ahead to May

The Texas stay at home order expires tomorrow, April 30th. The Texas governor announced plans to slowly start reopening the state on Friday. I’m not sure how May will play out, but I’m optimistic that we’re heading in the right direction!

Sending all the positive vibes your way! Stay healthy and safe.
