It’s hard to believe it’s October tomorrow! As much as most people are hurrying 2020 away, I’m excited to really take in and make the most of these last three months of this crazy year. I’m looking forward to cooler temperatures, fall foliage, and the holidays. I’m also really hopeful that Election Day is going to be a good day.

This section is funny to look back on over the past few months. It seems every month, Michael and I have a trip planned, and then, inevitably, it gets cancelled. #2020 So instead, we end up at one of our parents’ houses in Louisiana. Last month, I mentioned being really excited about a beach trip we had planned for September. Unfortunately, because of Hurricane Sally, we had to cancel. It was our second beach trip we’ve cancelled this summer. I can’t even count the number of other trips we pressed pause on over the spring and summer months.
With our beach trip cancelled, we ventured to Baton Rouge to spend a long weekend with Michael’s family. It was nice to get away for the weekend.
I’m hesitant to even mention this with my track record, but we do have a couple of road trips on tap for October … we’re planning a trip to Birmingham, AL (where Michael and I lived prior to DC) for a long weekend as well as perhaps another attempt at a beach trip. Originally, we planned on our Birmingham road trip extending all the way up to DC with stops along the way. We’re still trying to iron out details, but the long road trip seems a bit cumbersome for a few reasons at this point.
Wellness this Month
Amazon Dress (not maternity, wearing a medium)
I’m including our exciting news I shared this month in the wellness section as it seems to be health related and certainly something to celebrate! I shared earlier this month that Michael and I are expecting a baby in February 2021! A baby boy, to be specific. We’re over the moon excited.
I’m a few weeks into my second trimester at this point and feeling really good! One thing (among many) that I’m thankful for with this pregnancy is that I was already using clean products in our home (Branch Basics – Get 10% OFF your Starter Kit with code COBALT) and clean skincare, makeup, and bodycare products. One less thing to worry about with all of the wellness changes and dos and don’ts that come along with being pregnant.
On the body movement piece of my wellness practice, Michael and I switched up our at-home workouts this month. After months (since the beginning of quarantine) of doing at-home Orangetheory classes, I decided to try out the Peloton app. The first month is free. We both really love it! They offer so many different types of classes (I like the strength and yoga classes), both live and on-demand. You don’t need the bike to join the app. Even after the free trial, the subscription is only $12.99/month, which to me, is totally reasonable.
It’s important to me to keep up with my workout routine as much as possible during pregnancy so I’m really happy that I’ve been able to do that thus far. I’ve been incorporating weekend walks and even tennis(!) into my weekend routine.
