Happy Friday from Arizona! I’m partnering with Visit Mesa and Visit Phoenix over the weekend to explore Mesa and Phoenix and share my experiences with you! I arrived yesterday and will be here through Sunday! The weather hasn’t been ideal since I arrived … I was looking forward to the typical Arizona-in-February weather, which usually includes loads of sunshine and temps in the 70s. It’s been raining and in the low 40s. Hoping that at least the rain will slack up so that we can enjoy all of the outdoor activities Mesa and Phoenix have to offer! I’m sharing lots on Instagram so be sure to follow along there!
Let’s jump into this week’s week in review, shall we?!
Monday
On Monday I shared a wedding related post – How to Plan a Destination Wedding. While it certainly wasn’t all encompassing, I wanted to share a few things that were top of mind as I’m fresh off of the destination wedding planning process. I have a lot more to share on the topic and will be doing so over the next few months!
This week was filled with checking things off of my to do list. Michael and I are officially moving to Houston on Wednesday, February 27th! Or at least starting our drive that day … With my Arizona trip this weekend, I needed to pack up lots of items, tie up loose ends for the move (like scheduling our rental truck pickup and canceling our utilities), and finish up a few client projects for my Contracts for Creatives business. Monday was super productive as I spent most of my day working from home and ended the day at SoulCycle. Side note – I’m so sad to leave my SoulCycle fam in DC! Thank goodness Houston has Soul too!
Tuesday
Michael took the train to Pennsylvania for work on Monday night so I had the apartment to myself the remainder of the week. Tuesday looked a lot like Wednesday with the exception of ending the day with a fantastic dinner at one of my favorite DC restaurants, Le Diplomate. One of the best things to come out of starting this blog of mine is the people that I’ve met through blogging. I’ve come to have a really great group of blogging friends turned real life friends here in DC. There are a few of us that try to get together on a monthly basis. We had one last hoorah on Tuesday night and indulged in wine and burgers (a group fave!).
Wednesday
We had a snow day in the District on Wednesday! It started snowing around 6:00 am and continued falling until around lunchtime. I’m not a fan of cold weather, but man do I love the snow! It was such a peaceful morning working from home and gazing out the windows feeling like I was in a real life snow globe!
I published my Kauai travel guide on Wednesday! It was a labor of love. It took me a good amount of time to put the post together as I wanted to include all of the details of our trip (we went for our honeymoon!) so that it will hopefully be a resource to you and anyone looking to take a trip to the Hawaiian island!
Thursday
Thursday was a long but fun day! I woke up at 3:00 am EST (1:00 am AZ time) to catch a train to BWI airport and fly to Phoenix. After landing and gathering my bags, I met the Visit Mesa team and a few other journalists and bloggers who are also on the trip this weekend, and we headed to The Churchill in Phoenix to explore and grab lunch. We then made our way to Schnepf Farms where we’re “glamping” in refurbished Airstreams for the next few days!
Weekend Plans
Like I mentioned, I arrived in Arizona on Thursday. I’m here through the weekend and flying back to DC late Sunday. This is my first time to Arizona so I’m super excited to explore more of Mesa today and check out what Phoenix has to offer on Saturday and Sunday! A few things that I’m really looking forward to (weather permitting) – goat yoga (yet, it’s a thing) and a sunrise hot air balloon ride! I’ll have a full recap of my trip soon so stay tuned!
Favorite Things This Week
January and February are always odd months for shopping. Throw in a wedding, honeymoon, and a move, and I feel like I haven’t purchased anything except essentials for those three events since before the holidays! So for this week’s Favorite Things This Week I’m including a few items that I’m eyeing for spring (it’s March 1st next Friday!).
Colorful Spring Earrings // I’ve become more and more of an earring fan over the past few years. They add such a fun pop to an outfit. While perusing shopbop’s site, I added so many to my cart! All of these are under $50 (and free shipping)!
Flowy Dresses // I’m usually a jeans gal, but lately, I’ve been loving the free flowing dresses and have been drawn to fun prints for spring! My legs are ready to be free! Ha! All of these are under $100 (and free shipping)!
Have a wonderful weekend!
What a fun weekend trip! Cannot wait to follow along on stories!!
