One of my favorite things about blogging is that it serves as somewhat of an online journal for me to look back on! As the months roll on, I forget about things that happened earlier in the year. The same goes for travel! I recapped my 2017 travel at the start of 2018, so I thought I’d do the same again this year to see exactly where I spent my time away from DC in 2018! I also looked back at my 2018 Travel Bucket List and laughed a little as I only checked off 4 of the 12 places I named, but I ended up traveling to lots of places that weren’t even on my radar at the beginning of the year! Let’s jump in!
January & February
I started off the year pretty slow with no travel in January. In February, Michael and I joined friends from DC in Park City, Utah for a fun ski trip. It was my first time visiting Park City (and Utah!), and it didn’t disappoint! The skiing and snowboarding were awesome, and the actual town of Park City is really cool with lots of shops, bars, and restaurants. I wrote a full review here!
March
Michael and I hopped on down to New Orleans in March for a friends wedding. We made a long weekend of it as New Orleans is one of our favorite cities. It was just as fun as it always is!
April
In April we flew to Italy for a whirlwind 4-day trip where we visited 5 cities! We were with friends that live in Italy so they knew exactly where to take us to make the most of our quick trip! If you missed my Instagram Stories from this trip, it’s worth going to my Instagram page and finding the Italy highlight – I still laugh out loud when watching it! In 4 days we visited Sacile, Parma, Modena, Bologna, and Rome (where Michael proposed!).
May
May was a light travel month. My mom, sister, and I trained from DC to NYC for a weekend. It was a fun mother/daughter trip! I love spending time in NYC!
June
In June I partnered with one of my favorite hotels in my favorite little Mississippi town of Oxford (my college town!). I spent the weekend with one of my college BFFs. We ate at all of our favorite spots and shopped around the Square. It was the best!
I also met my family for our annual beach trip in Destin, FL in June. It’s one of my favorite trips every year!
July
Michael and I spent the week of the 4th of July in Colorado with a few of our friends. It was SO MUCH FUN! It was my first time visiting Colorado during the summertime, and it was beautiful! While in Colorado, we visited Frisco, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Vail. I took a trip home to Shreveport in July too.
August
In August I had the pleasure of hosting a workshop for Contracts for Creatives at the annual Blog Societies Conference in Atlanta. After spending a few days in Atlanta, I made the trek over to Birmingham to see some of my college and law school friends that live there!
September
September was a crazy busy travel month for me. First up, Michael and I joined his family on an amazing Labor Day weekend trip to Lake Tahoe and Napa. We had a blast!
I spent the next weekend in NYC where I had a few work meetings.
After NYC, Michael and I flew back out west to Portland, OR. Portland has been on our list for a while now! We loved the city! It is perhaps the BEST food city we’ve ever visited!
I ended the month with a trip to The Bahamas with my mom for a little wedding planning, and we flew back to Baton Rouge afterwards for the LSU/Ole Miss football game (my favorite game of the year!). Sheesh! I’m tired just thinking about all of that!
October
My bachelorette trip was in October. I met my girlfriends in one of my favorite places in the U.S., Rosemary Beach, FL. It’s so peaceful and beautiful there! We had the best weekend.
At the end of the month, Michael and I flew to the Turks and Caicos for a little birthday celebration! October is a great time to visit the Caribbean as it’s low tourist season and the weather was perfectly warm without being too hot!
November & December
The holidays took over towards the end of the year. I visited both Baton Rouge (where Michael’s family lives) and Shreveport (my hometown) in both November and December. And squeezed in a weekend trip to NYC the weekend before Christmas!
All in all I visited 3 countries, 11 states, 2 of which were new to me (Utah & Oregon), and 24 cities in 2018!
Cheers to all of the travels to come in 2019!
