Week In Review | Back In Houston

Week In Review | Cobalt Chronicles | Houston Style Blogger

Happy Friday! I hope you had a great week! Michael and I returned from our two-week Portugal/Morocco trip Wednesday night. Like any good Texans, we dropped our bags at home and headed straight to our favorite BBQ spot – Pinkerton’s. I spent most of my day on Thursday getting things in order – grocery store run, Target run, unpacking, laundry, etc. I’m looking forward to a low-key weekend here in Houston!

THIS WEEK’S BLOG POSTS

What to Pack for Portugal: Packing for Portugal in a Carry On Bag // I’m a firm believer in only packing in a carry on bag. I hate the process of checking bags! And when I’m traveling on a trip where I’m moving locations a lot, it makes it SO MUCH EASIER to get around! I shared every single clothing item I packed for our two-week trip in only a carry on bag, in this post! Pro tip: Rolling your clothes helps to be able to fit more into your bag!

Morocco Packing List: 5 Essentials to Take // As a follow up to the full packing list, I shared 5 essential items that I packed specifically for Morocco. If you’re heading to Morocco, you’ll need to put a little bit more thought into what you’re packing. Check out this post where I laid out everything you need to know!

WORKOUTS

I’m excited to be back home and back to my workout routine! We hit the gym a couple of times while on vacation (when we had a gym), and we walked around 5-10 miles almost every single day! So I definitely did something while away, but I’m looking forward to getting back in my groove this coming week. Here are this week’s workouts …

  • Monday: Hotel gym workout + walked 5.5 miles
  • Tuesday: Walked 5.8 miles
  • Wednesday: Travel home day. Still managed to walk 3.5 miles.
  • Thursday: 3 mile run.
  • Friday: Anytime Fitness weight workout.
  • Weekend: 10 mile run planned for Saturday morning

PODCASTS

I listened to a couple of podcasts while away, but I binged listened yesterday (Thursday) while running errands and organizing the house! Here’s what I listened to this week …

WEEKEND PLANS

I’m so excited for a weekend full of sports! While on vacation, we missed two weeks of college and NFL football. And missed the Nats making the World Series! I’m looking forward to hopefully cheering on the Astros to a ticket to the big show this weekend (how fun if the Nats AND Astros make it?! Which team do I cheer for?!).

Other than that, Michael and I are getting up bright and early on Saturday to run our long run for the week, 10 miles for half marathon training. This is our last long run before the race next weekend!

FAVORITE THINGS THIS WEEK

I got a few new items in while I was away and tried on everything yesterday (I’ll share a try-on session on Stories either today or early next week). Here are a few of my favorites!

Everlane Glove Boot ReKnit // The PERFECT boot for fall! Originally, I was eyeing the black pair, but my size was backordered, so I went with toffee, and I actually LOVE the color! They go perfectly with black jeans, dark blue denim, and even my lighter washes too! They are a slim fitting boot, not chunky at all, and I really like the heel height. Can’t wait to style these! I took my normal shoe size.

Everlane Cropped Alpaca Sweater // I’ve been eyeing this sweater since it came out! Although it says it’s cropped, it’s not. It’s just not oversized. I took my regular size Small. I LOVE the buttons. I have the almond color, but I also love the rose too!

Everlane Tie Front Top // If you live in a warmer climate, like Houston, this is the perfect top for fall! I love the rusty brass color (available in two other colors as well). I took a size 2 in this one as I wanted it to be a bit billowy.

Amazon Puffer Vest // I’ve had the same black puffer vest from Old Navy for at least 5 years, and it’s always a staple in my wardrobe when the temps start to drop. I upgraded to this Amazon puffer, and it’s perfect! Great quality, great fit! I went with a size XS.

Have a great weekend!
